the usual "hello i like yuri and cute horror and retro-computing" introduction :>
Lilja is a short haired girl with purple peekaboo hair in a bob-cut, and very earthly-toned classic lolita fashion. With a dainty little yellow lily hair accessory and a small braid to one side and very eager, very big green eyes, she might look like she's ready for a haunted place tour (and she usually is), but that's just how she dresses. Here she sits on a giant yellow lily, with her white cat snow sleeping under the petals.

Lilja likes horror, yuri, cats, magical girls, and gothic fiction. Some of her favourite works include the Project Zero/Fatal Frame series, Alice in Wonderland, and Serial Experiments Lain. For art, she uses both Clip Studio Paint, and when doing traditional work she's drawn to alcohol-based markers and mechanical pencils.

I'm happy that each character's fashion sense is shown through, kek

okay uh when silent hill f says "you can start a new game+ and there will be some changes to the story" i didn't actually expect that to mean "the entire first scene is different and has complete different dialogue"

Asako and Miyako are settling into their lives as a couple, but Miyako’s past comes back to haunt them. The final volume of Yodokawa’s adult life manga is available now from Yen Press!

Two women stand in the yard of a Japanese home, laundry in a basket behind them on the veranda, as they dance. A woman with short dark hair, draped in a sheet as a dress, laughs as she is dipped by a taller woman with long blonde hair, wearing denim jeans and jacket.

my parents havent brought up the "when are you getting married and having kids" thing this year yet (i always tell them i have no intention of doing either, they keep asking anyway)

but they still keep the "your cousin got a child/got married look at how happy she is"

when you think about it, one of the reasons why modern works using historical settings to talk about women's struggles land so well is because a lot of this hasn't really changed that much.

the view that women should just put themselves aside and be a baby factory is still out there, everywhere.
young teenager girl, dejected, "they keep nagging me to get hitched and start having kids. they say that's what is supposed to make women happy."

panel of a dejected woman, "and so you can see, my plans to become a masterful independent woman are hitting some major turbulence"

it's fun that og aikatsu is pretty close (178 episodes + 6 movies), without counting the sequels

it also reminded me of yukiko's afterword in her manga where she tried convincing her friend to "just watch the first 50 episodes of aikatsu" (i want that friend-convincing power)
yuurei-lilja.bsky.social
the masterful cat manga still manages to include tidbits of women's struggles with social expectations in modern japan as its running theme (that is part of the comedy), but whether it's intended or not by the author i keep reading saku as the oblivious ace type and it makes things even better
panel from the manga where saku suggests that the reason her coworker doesn't settle in a relationship might be for having high standards set by her "handsome, educated, good-at-his-job boss".

her colleagues are surprised, and yuri asks, "you appreciate the boss' good looks too, saku-senpai? he's super hot, right?"

saku, however, is confused, "huh...? well, i do kind of think he looks like cgi... sometimes"

me when i decided "i'll just binge watch all of OG aikatsu" years ago
concerned colleague at work, "Saku-senpai, your eyes are all red. are you alright...?"

saku, the woman who's barely functioning at work, "i had no idea there were 189 episodes..."

i have a very old script on growing to realise you're ace in a society that values romance and sex* above all that i work on-ane-off every so often and sometimes it becomes harder to write about these things than you think it ought to be 😔

The anime adaptation of Naekawa Sae’s manga about a girl who has lost everything, but cannot seem to lose her life, and the monsters around her, is beautiful, dark and atmospheric.

On dark background of black, blue and blood red, spattered with water droplets that amplify the color, a girl with long black hair and a scaled arm that ends in long-clawed fingers, smiles at use, her eyes glowing, on blue, one gold and inhuman.
