This article reeks of sickening desperation to appear unbiased and objective. In context of a collapsing democracy with an administration hell bent on destroying checks and balances, it’s more than fair to feel that right now a parade is NOT just a parade. Defending it as such is simply grotesque.

The issue becomes whether we are obligated as citizens to obey the laws wherever we might be, or whether our state of residence “owns” us, wherever we happen to go. When draconian measures are required to enforce our laws, maybe we should question the sanity of those laws.

It’s appropriate to view this response from Trump in a positive light. Your point is well taken. But let’s not lower our expectations of civility to the point where we further distort norms by congratulating a grown toddler for using the potty.

For too long Dems have asked themselves the wrong questions following election losses. Their concern has centered around bringing voters back into their camp rather than fixing the core problems of dysfunctional government. Hopefully they can course correct before the damage is irreparable.
