Concerned with the threat of an ascendant radical right, particularly focused on the pipeline from nativist-populist politics to an authoritarian regime. Fmr Sr. Research Director at America’s Voice.
Yesterday, Charlie Kirk posted what amounts to an AI summary of the white nationalist novel “The Camp of the Saints” - a fan favorite of Steve Bannon & Stephen Miller - that pushes the replacement theory lie that has inspired multiple mass murders.

This is their movement, it’s what they believe.

The language of “cockroaches” is nothing other than explicit racism.

What is happening here is what happened in Charlottesville in 2017, a racist march with replacement theory chants. Just this time it is coordinated from the White House not just with the stamp of approval afterwards.

This is what a white nationalist screed looks like. The President is invoking the "invasion" lie - the same lie that has inspired multiple deadly terrorist attacks - and invoking the language of ethnic cleansing. This is not a stance to compromise with or one that we can afford to ignore
June 13, 2025 at 2:04 PM
As @joesudbay.bsky.social pointed out this is how the NYTimes is covering the news that the Miller is calling for suspending the Constitution over completely imaginary “invasion.” The premise is more important than the policy. There is no invasion what comes next shouldn’t matter.

Visitors be advised that the White House also doesn't believe that you have due process rights while you are here watching the World Cup either.
May 6, 2025 at 9:45 PM
Later on, Noem invoked the invasion lie to justify investigations and prosecutions of Members of Congress (for daring to tell immigrants they have rights under the law) and judges.

The invasion lie underwrites their whole nativist agenda, and it must be urgently & directly confronted.
May 6, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Last night, DHS Secretary Noem was on Hannity peddling a white nationalist replacement conspiracy theory, asserting that President Biden led a secret foreign military to invade the United States. Yes, this is absurd, but it is the official policy justification from the mass deportation regime.
May 6, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Via Miller, the White House is again arguing that they can unilaterally rewrite the Constitution, asserting that anyone who is not a citizen has no right to see the inside of a courtroom if Miller & the gov. decide they want to indefinitely detain you in a foreign torture prison.

The ads threaten ALL of our undocumented neighbors that if they remain, they will be "imprisoned," while the ad threatening shows the horrific images from the propaganda tour inside the El Salvadorian prison the admin has been defying court order to send immigrants to.

Trump's DHS is using taxpayer dollars to push out nativist propaganda. Using a graphics package that looks to be dusted off from the 1990s, the new ads from DHS mimic the strategic racism of the Willie Horton ads to threaten fines & being sent to a torture prison unless immigrants "self deport."

The official White House account is continuing its practice of creating trolling memes exploiting OpenAI's new ability to steal the iconic Studio Ghibli animation style.

Hayao Miyazaki, once said AI is an"insult to life itself,” and its dehumanizing use here brings new meaning to that insult.
April 8, 2025 at 4:27 PM
And I will just leave this here as the evergreen response to whatever Republicans are saying about immigrants.
March 6, 2025 at 8:43 PM
@repstansbury.bsky.social understood the assignment!

Rs are "producing TV ads to try to pretend that they are 'making this country safe again.' Its total bullshit. Absolute bullshit."

They are not making America safer, just terrorizing immigrant families.

More of this please.
March 6, 2025 at 8:43 PM
All of this is political theater right up until the moment its not. Right now, not later but today, the R majority in Congress used its power to employ nativist narratives to advance their pretext for prosecuting and intimidating political opponents. This is how you get authoritarianism.
March 5, 2025 at 9:27 PM
The language "invasion" from Trump & allies has always been intentional, not just as a reference to a white nationalist conspiracy theory, but as a means to roll out a wider authoritarian agenda. MTG starts with the invasion lie and ends with a call of treason. This is their path.

3. And to top it off the long-time research director for a hate group, who now works for the legal outfit aligned with that hate group. True to form he is an avid promoter of the great replacement theory ideas saying that immigration is "demographic warfare" & that migrants are an "invasion"

Who did the Rs bring in to help dress up this white nationalist assault on the Constitution?

. A pal of Justice Alito who argued against same-sex marriage at the Supreme Cout and sought to undermine democracy in NC with extreme gerrymanders.

What does Bannon’s Nazi salute tell us that is new about his politics. Nothing. But it is still important. He is doing this on purpose as a calculated move to advance his fascist politics that he has been clear about for at least the last decade. Theirs is a fascist movement. We should act like it.

Rep. Brandon Gill, shit poster turned congressman, is out calling for the "deportation" of a member of Congress. This isn't immigration policy its a call for ethnic purges. Yes, this is designed for reaction, but the clear display of their ethnic nationalism should not be ignored.
February 5, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Make no mistake, they are literally calling for the arrests of teachers who do not support raids at schools. Raids at "sensitive locations" likes schools, religious buildings, hospitals were called for in Project 2025 & quickly allowed with Miller and Homan in charge.

Quite a headline running over at the Daily Caller. Yes it's the Daily Caller but there is a disturbing pattern of what starts as clickbait here ending up as a 'serious' policy for Republicans a short time later. With Tom Homan similarly calling for arrests is more just saying the quiet part out loud
January 30, 2025 at 5:14 PM
The level of explicit & coded bigotry in Trump's inaugural address is still shocking, even as it is not surprising. Still two things of note amoung many:
1. his invoking the white nationalist "invasion" conspiracy
2. promising to deploy the military on US streets to begin round-ups
January 20, 2025 at 6:00 PM
What I think about the coming EOs
1. This not about public safety or increasing wages its about redefining America under Miller-Homan's neo-nationalist vision.
2. Its a plan to deploy the military onto US streets
3. And create the pretext for up to capital punishment for those they deem a threat.
