Welp. After avoiding it capably for a solid 5 years, I’ve finally been infected with COVID-19. My mistake perhaps was not getting the new booster sooner considering I work in public schools. The pandemic is still happening. Hoping for no long-term symptoms.

Perfect way to end the thunderstorm with some sunset colors out here in the Coachella Valley. The sudden stormy wind blast at the start was a fairly impressive proceeding.

Six months ago today much of Altadena was burned to the ground. Life has moved on and so have I but I’m going to be optimistic about reconstruction and the future of community. 🙏

Pretty easy day on the Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail in Idyllwild. Not out as much in the woods lately, but all good things in time. That tree canopy! 💚

Another Sunday spent well in Joshua Tree National Park stopping at all the best exhibits. So many reasons why the California Desert rocks far and wide. 🏜️

This evening in Palm Springs there were an estimated 5,000 people for a No Kings rally at Downtown Park. Afterwards many gathered to dance and sign wave before marching through the heart of the city center. Coachella Valley is very inspiring!

Will Altadena be rebuilt? A new State investigation into the market conduct of State Farm has been announced. The funding needed to prevent further displacement might sadly be too little, too late for many victims.

Watched and waited to see if it would rain in Joshua Tree but little more than a few drops fell from the sky on to the arid floor. Love the California Desert! ☁️🤔

Stopped by the American Reproductive Centers location in Palm Springs today to see the damage. The liquor store next door is repaired, stocked, and open. Domestic terrorism is lame.

Good news! The Cholla Cactus Garden is very much open. I kind of missed the older, more casual trail layout, but needless to say that new bridge is legitimate. Erosion problem solved?🌵📰

The lightning storm last night in Joshua Tree National Park was totally on point. You have to respect the energy it takes to bolt. Love the California Desert!

The gas station in Rice, California is now a place for visitors to leave their shoes. A ghost town, it has been abandoned since 1960 following the closure of its airport. Cool place to stop!

Things I’m waiting on! For more than two years people have insisted that the leak of the LA Fed Tapes was an inside job. Kevin de León has a date in court coming up. 😎🖤

Beautiful Sunday on the Bear Creek Oasis trail in La Quinta. Didn’t quite make it all the way, but there’s always next time. Love the California Desert!

Great view of the Full Pink Moon from high up Highway 74 above the Coachella Valley. Enough to make you wish upon a moon. 💖

Beautiful day up in Idyllwild today. Didn’t quite make it to the top of the Devils Slide but still a beautiful day out with melting snow and fresh running water. 😎

Yesterday was my first time seeing the burn zone in Altadena. On prior return trips it was still sealed off to the public. Saw quite a number of crews at work clearing debris.

Another lovely evening out in the California desert. Pretty warm today for February but still quite pleasant. 📸

Another beautiful evening in the desert. Still kind of miss Altadena, and especially the mountains. Our relocation fund: gofund.me/9f1f92ae
