Yeah… I had a very bad feeling that reviving Scream would seriously come to bite them in the ass.

All that is to say that yeah, I don’t think the GameCube controller is perfect. But it’s far from being an outright bad one as whole and I think that is good for what it can do.

And I think this is because we’re in an age where people want more accessibly now. Rather than ponder the question of “does it work as intended for the system or games it’s designed for?” and if it didn’t then that’s how it’s a bad controller. Idk, I’m probably in the minority there.

Like how the Wiimote is bad cause I can’t use it for games outside of the games meant for it. Or how the NES, Genesis and OG PS1 controller are bad controllers for those same reasons. And so and so forth with many many more examples. It just feels like a very strange way to judge it imo.

And I guess to give my thoughts on the criticisms of how it’s a bad controller because it doesn’t work for the games that aren’t designed for it? I kinda feel like that’s somewhat being a bit unfair to it. Cause you can apply the same thing for most controllers back then if you really wanted to.

I think the Wii U gamepad is pretty uncomfortable for the hands and I dislike its analog stick layout. As much nostalgia I have for the N64 controller for its look; that controller has aged much worse than the GameCube’s. Virtual Boy is the obvious low hanging fruit, but you get the point.

I know there’s been a lot of hate for the GameCube controller lately and while I get some of the complaints. I think a lot of them are also pretty overblown at the same time. Like… seriously, I can think of far worse controllers than this one, some of them even being from Nintendo themselves.
