November is Diabetes Awareness Month. With Medicaid cuts underway, it’s important to recognize the challenges and medical needs of this disease. North Carolinians will lose access to their healthcare for lifesaving medication. We must urge the General Assembly to help prevent this from happening.

Hispanic Heritage Month honors those building stronger communities. H. Nolo Martinez was a North Carolina State University faculty member appointed by Governor Hunt to be the first director of Hispanic/Latino Affairs. His work involved expanding on the needs of Hispanic and Latino people in NC.

The North Carolina Land and Water Fund has awarded more than $36 million in grants to protect our land and water across the state. $1.1 million in grants will go toward protecting Durham's local parks and reserves to help preserve the local and natural beauty of the state.
