Not gonna take over, but between Steam hardware, improvements to overall Linux support, and Microsoft’s behaviour, it’s gonna start getting more popular.

Hopefully more support will come for it - and drivers, applications, etc. Also Linux in the hands of people willing to tinker for video games is net positive for Linux.
Anti-cheat will still be one of the biggest problems for the new Steam Machine
Kernel-level anti-cheat feels like it's everywhere now, and will remain a thorn in Valve's side for the new Steam Machine powered by SteamOS Linux.
