Casual gamer with more heart than skill. Pro wrestling fan for over 10 years. Tech-y person, but only kinda. I talk a LOT.
I really do like the fediverse, or as some only see it, Mastodon. I just... am not as techy as everyone else there. It seems like it his a niche. A positive and wholesome one, but a niche nonetheless.

I appreciate bluesky for helping be general, but still neat. I like this place!

Beyond the market and Twitter user-base being fucking awful, why, oh why, must the UI also be properly awful? Like, textbook of how a shitty social media should look.

"Bluesky is the same!" No. No it is not. Much smaller and more compact, as well as easier to find content. Just is.

Checked out Twitter for the first time in many, many months.

It looks unrecognizable, but kept that stink with it. What cheeks.

I'm sad I didn't get to grow up on forums for real long. Only 21, still a wee bab in the grand scheme, but like... damn, sad I missed that awful, hideous looking glory.

Convenience is the name of the game these days, but I'll always prefer the casual and more... personal experience.

Not gonna lie, my favorite part of having this Debian install in WSL is the ability to use Flatpaks in Windows, haha. Yea, maybe pointless for many, but there are some native linux only apps / flatpaks I miss from my time with KDE / GNOME / hyprland.

Shortwave, the radio player, is a good example.

yes, Windows 11 Ai is very scary and a dangerous course, but i wanna credit the ability to create quick scripts, quick searches, etc.

yes, people are going to lose jobs and money. though, i don't know if it's preventable at this point and i just want the best for all. wishing for just the least bad

sent feedback to bluesky to include pinned posts. why? because i felt like it and it does no harm to try. i know, maybe and probably won't go anywhere, but ay, felt nice to do ig.

do what you like cause you like it, just don't be a dick. easy way to live for me, except when POLITICS get involved...

my WSL in windows 11 experience has been fun, but i think i'm gonna focus on a... 'standard' WSL? AKA; no desktop and only CLI for now, outside of the GUI apps / flatpaks.

distro of choice shall be debian. would go arch, but afaik that's only a fan project, so we'll see about it.

good morning.💞
December 9, 2023 at 3:33 PM
Nah, fuck this I'm installing a useable KDE Plasma in WSL. Wish me luck.
December 8, 2023 at 11:20 PM
WSL fucking rules, holy moly. I don't know why I didn't take time for this before!
December 8, 2023 at 11:08 PM
Shit, I forgot to install the cuda-toolkit for proper GPU acceleration lol fixed it!
December 8, 2023 at 11:07 PM
Spent a bit of time working on it, but it appears I have Debian running under WSL in Windows 11, with flatpak support, etc etc. Very pleased with this and wanna test backports in the future!

The year is 2007, console VS PC gaming talk runs the town. YouTube is taking off. Video responses upon video responses to actual videos. Yet, no one answers the question...

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
December 8, 2023 at 4:51 PM
Okay yea I know I just said I'm nostalgic for Windows, but Windows 8 can still sit on a pointy bench. Fuck that operating system.
December 8, 2023 at 4:50 PM
I hate how some Linux users, and vice versa, are so opposed to people using whatever OS they like. Yes, there are causes and cases to be made, but...

I'd rather people be happy and use their machine, idk. This is a big reason I stopped partaking in some of the tech community personally.

Podcasts are the cure to my ADHD when I don't have a stimulant. This national shortage holds nothing on the Always Sunny podcast!!

That's my first ramble thread here on bluesky. You're welcome, lol.

Ai is obviously harmful to the environment and with how it steals from other work, but its usefulness in many areas cannot be denied. I often lay in the middle regarding this topic as it's easy for me to see both sides as it is difficult to pick one.

Absolutely wild times we live in.

I would like if Bluesky added pinned posts, though. Those are typically a good way to get an idea of someone's profile, so I could see it being added in the future, maybe unless already stated otherwise?

Anywho, it's something I'd like to see.

Windows 11 removing news from widgets as an option cannot come soon enough. I really like the idea of having a few select panels to scope out throughout the day, but the influx of political news and tragedies makes it hard to leave that damn thing on for the weather indicator alone...
December 7, 2023 at 1:26 PM
I do like the fediverse and such, but I find it kinda... like, a community oriented kinda thing? Like there is definitely a community there and one it hits well.

I like the fediverse, but I also like bluesky for a more 'general' experience. We've swapped from socials before, shouldn't be hard!

Need to find me some wrestling accounts here 👀

I used Linux for years and I still use Windows to this day. No dislike for Linux, some dislike for Windows, but I just jump between the two depending on how I am feeling.

Really should just setup a Windows 11 / Arch Linux dual boot sometime...
