At this point I'm just assuming these accounts with like 8 followers are bots or a part of the 7 figure fossil fuel industry Ad buy.

EVs exist in their current iteration because of California Air Quality legislation and also a huge tool to fight GHG Emissions, and are immediately effective at both.

I wonder how long they'll last? I still see electric B-Class all the time. They're like roaches. I can't remember the last time I saw a Focus electric, etc, but the B-Class EVs are always scurrying about.

Great call out, yes, because they appear to be mishandling insurance claims, as they are widely accused of doing with service claims as well. Definitely doesn't seem like they're on the up and up.
Tesla is in hot water for mishandling insurance claims
California is taking significant enforcement action against Tesla Insurance, alleging the company has been systematically failing to handle claims properly...

I'm not sure what this has to do with Tesla refusing to resolve their battery issues on a large scale, or Michael's reply suggesting another EV, it seems specific to an older ICE model, it'd be like me replying about my Niro HEV.. which isn't an EV, so I'm hiding it as it's out of left field.

I am. When I make statements like this it's based on lots of objective data, not our one off ownership experience. They've been the worst brand, not just EV, for road worthiness in Germany's TÜV for almost half a decade straight, and now show up in other rankings like the recent Finnish news. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Every time some disaffected American complains we don't have smaller EV trucks I remind them the RD6 debuted the same year as the Lightning and it's just our lazy manufacturers keeping great stuff out. I'd love to see this at Volvo dealers.

My guess? niche market, big for Australia but relatively small in the scheme of things globally, thus taking a while to ramp up.
zamafir.bsky.social
The even further decontented Model Y isn't competitive in *any* market globally. Tesla's done.
zamafir.bsky.social
They are.
They likely won't, given it's production constrained as Nissan continues to bungle their supply chain.

It seems like these manufactures that are struggling to keep up on EVs are the ones most loudly investing in odd projects and promoting it, as their core is struggling.

BMW's already offering downward revised guidance, very curious to see if their 800V platform increases their current EV momentum, seems odd the Mini brand isn't competing, again, with the brunt of EV demand in that ID.3, EV3, R5 space.
zamafir.bsky.social
Totally. I'm not seeing many Q6, Macan, Cayenne EV's, or anything prestige really in the top volume of EV sellers. That the ID.3 hasn't been updated, or superseded as the R5 hit, and EV2/EV3 take up the Inster mantle wit the IONIQ 3 almost here, is a huge lapse in leadership at VW...

Fantastic! Though the U.S. and especially GOP won’t wake up as it’s a broken democracy controlled by fossil fuel interests, but it is great seeing progressive states make huge progress on important metrics on par with Europe!
zamafir.bsky.social
We need to be speaking in the past tense about the U.S.

-70% of EVs are made in China, -7% U.S. a decline from year before
- 80% of solar is made in China, <5% U.S.

The ship has already sailed.
zamafir.bsky.social
That's really it. We have China leading on EVs because they went all in over a decade ago. We have Korea not far behind because they made the same decision a decade ago. We have Europe walking back, while behind a generation or two, the math isn't mathing from a deficit position.

Hyundai: We're building our EVs in the U.S. with very high levels of U.S. and Canadian parts, because they're globally competitive and built here, we're dropping MSRP ~10k

GM: We don't so we're raising prices
Ford: We don't so we're racing prices

Outstanding company name :P.
zamafir.bsky.social
I've seen U.S. blogs chide Hyundai for not having rebuilt their demand there after the decline years ago, but given the unprecedented growth HMG are experiencing, it seems like brands not relying on China for significant portions of volume, with huge EV success, are best positioned post 2030.

Cabin filter for me, first vehicle I've owned where it's just a little door that opens and it slides right in, takes 15 seconds. So much about an EV is so much better because everything isn't packaged around an explosion containment vessel.
