Another key update is a new liquid metal first wall design that uses centrifugal forces to cover more exposed solid metal surfaces, improving its ability to absorb plasma heat.

The new benchmark was partly enabled by a new liquid metal loop that circulates 2,500 lbs of flowing bismuth to cool the plasma chamber. This video shows the new liquid metal loop moving into place.

Liquid metal wall 2.0: The Centrifuge. 🌪️ That's hot liquid metal spinning up and coating the wall of the Century chamber to transfer heat from its plasmas out of the chamber.

What does a flowing Z pinch look like? Video from two high-speed cameras simultaneously capture a linear plasma assembling inside FuZE-Q. The plasma looks more like a river than a lightning bolt, but has aspects of each. Read more: zapenergy.com/blog/fusions... #fusionenergy

This video combines footage from 2 synchronized cameras: one looking directly into the flowing line of plasma in a Zap fusion device, and another one looking at the side.

Zap scientists use high-speed cameras to study the formation of sheared-flow-stabilized Z-pinch plasmas. This video depicts an event about 25 millionths of a second long.

To hit the target, Century produced a series of 1,080 Z-pinch plasmas with at least 100 kA input current each, discharged in a flowing liquid metal wall environment including a durable liquid-metal-tipped cathode system. Here's a short clip showing a series of five plasma shots.
