Wisconsin and the world. Opinions my own. Once a Republican.
I don’t know that the administration has any problem at all, other than some ICE people resenting the Border Patrol. These folks all support the White America immigration policy; if they get a little nervous over tactics, so what?

Well these folks do love their dictator.

Federal agents who can’t get served in restaurants can always start eating the dogs and cats of Minneapolis.

Undocumented persons and those who look like they might be are also dangerous illegal criminals. Because they just are, that’s why.

3/3 A large number of Americans, as well as a large majority of Republican elected officials, do not care. They accept the lies as the way things are done in government. They even venerate some of the liars. They would destroy American Constitutional democracy 250 years after it was founded.

2/3 They deny what everyone can see, & make promises they have no intention of keeping — e.g. there will no investigation of Alex Pretti’s murder yesterday. The excellent interviews by @kristenwelker.bsky.social & Dana Bash make this clear to anyone watching. But that’s all they can do.

There are few things more dangerous to liberty and order than groups of armed men with official sanction who think of themselves as victims.

Some people can. Some others think they can. The rules aren’t the same for everyone.

But Trump Republican racism, while pronounced, has nuance and numerous inconsistencies, of which prominent Republicans like J. D. Vance have taken advantage. [end]

….they likely to be considered targets of DHS if they live in politically disfavored areas like Minneapolis or Washington DC.

“For the white, against the colored” is a good rule of thumb for assessing Trump Republican attitudes toward race and ethnicity, as well as Trump administration policy.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is the best-known example.

People of Hispanic descent may be considered HWP if they express the right political opinions and live in the right places. Their status in Republican circles will be higher if they live in a strongly Republican area of Florida;…

Native-born Americans of African descent are regarded lower than many immigrants in Trump’s Republican Party, with individual exceptions made for certain athletes, politicians, & people in the entertainment business. These exceptions are promoted aggressively as evidence Republicans are not racist.

People of Arab descent present the most confusing case — the lowest of the low generically, associated with terrorism and Islamic terror groups, but honorary white people with diamonds and oak leaf clusters if they have money and have given some of it to Trump. Most of the latter are not Americans.
January 25, 2026 at 12:29 PM
They would not be considered on the same level even if their ethnic background were identical to some Indian-Americans. Likewise, immigrants from mostly nonwhite countries like the Philippines, Cuba, and Brazil have HWP status within their grasp, if they meet the above criteria.
January 25, 2026 at 12:29 PM
Indian-Americans, if they have suitable educational credentials, speak excellent English, and have money, are considered almost honorary white people, especially if they are vocal supporters of Trump. India itself is a vast country with many millions of people who meet none of these criteria.

Yes and no. Keeping his wife out of the public eye is a choice that must be influenced by Vance’s politics. But racism in the Republican Party is not a white/nonwhite binary. It includes a kind of hierarchy of nonwhite people, in lowest levels of which immigrants are joined by many native born.

The ever-present pepper spray. Developed to disperse crowds, it seems now an incentive for federal agency people to attack individuals. When the attack fails, they become enraged.
January 25, 2026 at 1:38 AM
Heh. Radical Trumpers proclaiming a White America immigration policy have done nothing to raise the temperature. So NRA is fine with them. Guess that whole Second Amendment thing was less a cause than a racket.
