Reading as another example, my tracking showed I fell off during the Summer onwards, which highlights how all the reading I was doing for school negatively impacted the time time I had for reading leisurely.

For example, Weightlifting. I aimed for 3 workouts a week (about 42% for the year), but I bumped it to 4 workouts a week in October. That adjustment helped me make up for any missed workouts earlier in the year.

3. Habit Tracking

This was the simplest and most effective practice. Each day, I’d check off a list of habits I was tracking, bullet journal style. While it didn’t give me as much granular data as time tracking, I got valuable insights with way less effort—it only took about a minute each day.

2. Journaling

This was meant to be the more qualitative side of my self-tracking. I got the idea for this (and the time tracking) from Jennifer Chou/@vegantechnomad. Every week I did:

1. Time Tracking

For the first three months of 2024, I tracked every minute of my day. The data I collected was incredible—it showed me exactly where my time was going and made it easy to course-correct when needed.
