He hates silence. Hates how loud his thoughts are when he’s alone. The silver bracelet around his wrist shines as he raises his hand up in front of him. The thin band feels heavy now, carrying the memory of what once was. All he can use to distract himself right now is the gentle song of the ocean coming from the window he left ajar earlier before he went to bed, hoping the sound would lull him to sleep or at least take his mind off of things. But it’s not enough. It’s in moments like this that he misses his mother the most. He digs his nails into his palm, body tensing against the growing heaviness that’s consuming all his senses. It catches in his chest, making a home there, weighing it down like an anchor. His eyes sting as he glares at the ceiling, betrayed by it as if it could have prevented the inevitable pressure against his heart. His hand starts to shake as his vision blurs. It falls limp by his side, and suddenly the idea of raising it back up seems as frivolous as it feels impossible. A breath catches in his throat, a weak wheeze escaping instead. He clenches his jaw, fighting against the way it quivers as the pressure in his chest rises. A deep inhale through his nose. Then another. And another. Trying his hardest to space them out evenly. To reel back that feeling to something more manageable, tamable. But it doesn’t leave, cemented in his throat, sticking to his oesophagus like grease. It grows and grows, so much so that he can no longer attribute the haziness of his vision to the alcohol anymore. Frantically sitting up, he fights against the heaviness of his limbs, stumbling to the bay window and grabbing the handle with trembling hands. Fresh air. That’s what he needs. Yeah.

"the mermaid AU I'm planning is just fun and chill" I say as I'm 2 chapters in and mermaid Taehyung is getting captured by fishermen on the anniversary of his twin's death. And he ends up ripping one of the fishermen's fingers off to escape :)))! +

“Damn, that’s a pretty one. We’ll get a hefty price for that tail,” one of them says. Despite struggling to find the words himself, he can definitely understand them, and his blood runs cold. If he doesn’t get out, he’s done for. Taehyung continues thrashing around violently, the boat rocking dangerously. He hears one of the men curse and the other is on him in an instant, trying to keep him still. He slashes at his arm, making him pull away with a yelp. When another one brings his hand towards his face, Taehyung doesn’t hesitate, he latches onto his fingers, ripping two of them from his hand before spitting them out. The man lets out a bloodcurdling scream as he stumbles around erratically. Using the chaos to his advantage, Taehyung leans all his weight to the same side of the man, and the boat starts dangerously rocking. One of the men falls off with a yell, and Taehyung takes that precious second to slither onto his front towards the water. His tail gets stuck in the net, but he shakes it violently, screaming in pain as he feels the net catch onto his delicate scales.
