The best atypical cube I've played was banned cube, featuring only cards that are - or have been - banned in any format. There's a lot of synergy you don't expect, although primeval titan is maybe a bit too good when there's minimal removal around.

Oh yeah, and Vincent unlocked an achievement (while tapped down by a summoner's sanctum and unable to do anything)

I think it's an unforuante byproduct of people thinking (rightly, IMO) that it's okay to steal from faceless corporations, but failing to see that stealing from an individual artist is not the same thing. It's very disheartening anyway.
