Did my annual rant about this in my instrumental analysis class on Monday 😂

I finished the set! So pretty!!
Set of legos built to resemble crystalline forms of minerals.

The number of commitments I have tomorrow is fully incompatible with the fact that there is a new Taylor album fewer than 6 hours away.

Need to get grading done. But my mineral Lego kit got delivered to work. What was I supposed to do, not build Lego pyrite?!? #ChemSky
Brown Lego square with a gold colored representation of pyrite sitting on top and a pink and green representation of watermelon tourmaline.

If I remember tomorrow, I’ll send you my little script.

Yes! Literally the first thing I say to them!

I’m with you. I do specs in my 50 person analytical but the 180 gen chem is a beast.

While I figure out the “time to learn,” I’ve been trying to focus on why we want to learn. We do a whole breathing exercise where we think about O2 movement in the body and why that might matter for a doctor, etc.

Very helpful, thank you!

That's what I'm focused on, I want to do more feedback on handwritten work but doing that at scale is 😬

How big of a lecture do you use this in? And is it for their homework? I'm curious about giving it a try.

Thrilled by this development!

Oh yeah, same! my spec graded class has a "don't believe any number you read" as a disclaimer!

And the Canvas gradebook can't distinguish that a blank should be counted as a zero! So the students see a total fiction of a current grade if they haven't turned anything in.

Don't even get me started on classes that don't operate with points. 😡😡😡

Costco considers a recalled wine so dangerous that it has sent a letter to every store member who bought a bottle telling them to immediately throw it away.

Same. For a few years I operated on endless flexibility and found it just didn’t work. Some structure is really helpful, especially when students are navigating the change from HS to college.
