Reflected glory.... a stunning sunset mirrored on the wet sands of Cape Disappointment, WA
#EastCoastKin #Stunday #photography
A vast flat sandy beach where the tide has left behind remnants of enough water to reflect the dominating clouds turning to shades of pink as the sun goes down. Birds and beachwalkers can be seen in the distance.

Such a lovely scene! Is that the trail you're biking on? But try not to fall from the bike!😉👍🚵‍♂️

I'm thinking I need to sort through my feed.... your posts seem to be slipping way down of late. I really should get some sleep, but I feel like I'm missing out! 🤨😴

The horrifying irony of it all... now that you mention it! 🤔

Hmmmm.... wondering who that might have been? 🤔

I have more bird butt shots than I care to think about and here you are seeking out bee 🐝 butt shots and they just happen to be adorable! How does that even happen?
Keep it up 👍! I'm loving it 🥰 !

That trip was before the van. We flew to Vegas to see Cirque du Soleil. Then rented a Jeep and headed for the desert. 🏜️ If I remember right, we were on the road several weeks. Came back with some spectacular memories and great pictures! The van came later for more trips in out of the way places! 🤩

It was quite an experience. After exploring the rim where these pictures were taken, we had a guided tour down in the canyon the next day with an exceptional Navajo guide. I had a chance to get pics of cliff dwellings and petroglyphs along with some of the history of life in that amazing place.

Thank you! Very rough guess would be maybe 20 ft. since that tallest one on the left is growing on a rocky ledge. (Needed a goat!) For a bit of context the first two shots were taken with a telephoto from the same canyon rim looking across the river at the other side of the canyon across the river.

Likely also applies to generational eras as well! Ge

Stunning.

Thanks for this lovely image, Vox. I used to see them a lot in Utah, but not so much in my current location. I love their attitude and coloring. You featured it very nicely. 🤩

A few more images of the geologic formations in our SW desert country. [I have MANY! 😂] Commonly known as Red Rock country. Topic: Geologic erosion.

I can easily imagine how these cliffs could become some balancing rock given a few eons. The trees are handy for a sense of scale.
Canyon de Chelly A Red Rock Canyon formed by a river running through it. A view of the river running through some majestic cliffs. In the late autumn the river is but a trickle, but the next day after a rain storm it had grown considerably... A view from the cliff tops. I wonder if the pedestal might have balanced a big flat rock on it some millennia back in time.

Thanks, Rob. I'm sure there's a bird in there somewhere??? 😉🤣💞

Me, too and you got a picture! 📷

The best kind.... 👍😊

Perhaps not quite as extreme, but the one that pops into my mind is Mexican Hat, Utah -near the Navajo Reservation.

I'd guess it's different rates of erosion likely caused by varying levels of sediment. There are quite a lot of bizarre shapes that are similar in the SW desert of the US. It's also possible to see those layers of sediment in occasional hillsides. I might root around in some old pics for examples.

Personally, I think you got the best part - the sound. I love hearing them fly overhead. If only I had the camera handy when they flew over us. I did catch one shot, but they were way high. I missed the one where they almost skimmed the tree tops. I think they're done for now... maybe next spring? 🤞

Good month for spooky! Interesting at any rate. 🎃👻etc...
I've been trying like mad to catch up, but never quite make it! 🥴
