What about the London plane tree? - possibly half London's tree population. Keen for specifics on that one please. (Also surely a policy can be developed to keep ZipCar going? It's too useful to disappear.)

This section uses AI's echo for rhetorical effect. It's clear from Haidt's work that he knows how AI functions. It doesn't merit "save yourselves", "Aaaaaaaaaaargh" [as he understands the point you spell out], or as the OP says, the rescinding of Haidt's doctorate. Maybe others misinterpret his work

But it is profound that the AI is asserting that the material it operates on itself is what someone would use to harm a reader. That's observational colour though, not Haidt's mechanistic work. And Haidt on 2009 advent of like & RT buttons creating polarised realities & virality is fascinating

Disagree. Haidt has lots of useful insight. He's flagging up the serendipity of ChatGPT hitting on a profundity here.

Not sure the House of Lords is appropriate to deal with this as seems out of touch with current work environment - freelance, short contracts, zero-hours contracts, portfolio careers... Can see the cartoons of them getting £371 a day whilst their takeaway rider's fired because their dad died

How does this apply to unfair dismissal in the case of e.g. bereavement? Bereavement leave will now be permitted from day one but employers can still dismiss unofficially when bereavement leave is requested/imminent, and unfair dismissal not be a route of recourse?

I hope they don't.

*I haven't read the full judgement. But this is the first case of its type which OFCOM has lost. It seems they were prevented from appealing due to errors made in the law? So weird.

Much of the general public CANNOT distinguish a JRM presented current affairs programme, containing news excerpts, almost certainly on a controversial matter, from news.

Rees-Mogg delivered a major international news story and followed up a major national news story. Of course that's news.
November 27, 2025 at 5:13 PM
New "hybridity" of daily news programmes does not make 'Jacob Rees-Mogg's State of the Nation' comparable with 'The World at One'. People flick through channels now too - they usually don't see the programme name in the Radio Times.

Why has OFCOM not updated its rules yet, in line with e.g. clause 99 of February's judgement? www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/u...
