Writer of historical fiction and mythic retellings.
Might talk too much about Medusa, Dionysus, sexuality fluidity and diversity in the ancient world.
Thinking about how these images are understood only with context, like Odyssey holding onto the underside of a sheep. Imagining some future culture seeing them and wondering what they're about. But to us the meanings are clear.

It feels weird sharing my novels right now, but if you're looking for sexual fluidity and diversity in the ancient world with mostly bi main characters, my novels are here for you.

I've been remiss in #phallusthursday posts. Watching the US devolve and LA struggle with fire recovery is hard enough.
It's also almost the year anniversary of my mom's passing.
She told me Greek myths, supported my writing, and gave me this #Dionysus statue when I was writing about him.

I'd so much rather be focusing on ancient herms and other phallic images on social media instead of watching my country devolve into a fascist hellscape.
But here is one of my favorite Hermes from the Getty Villa which is fortunately still standing.

My submission for this #phallusThursday includes this image and this lovely article by Mary Beard.
What is he carrying? Lamps? Sandals?

Spent Christmas at Disney Sea in Japan. It was beautiful and completely surreal because almost all the guests wore matching outfits and almost everyone wore something on their head, like ears or animal heads. Incredible fun!

Is it wrong to have sarcophagus envy? This is one of my favorites at The Getty Villa featuring my boy Dionysus and his entourage about to discover Ariadne.
I’m in Japan now and now really sure of the day so this works for both

I thought my debut novel was my straightest book until I read this review. I didn't even think that Venus and Psyche were really getting it on--Venus was just being Venus.
I guess this is just another way other people tell you you're bi.

Back when I got to go to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens by myself and have coffee with this beautiful Medusa mosaic. It’s hard to see but there were doilies next to the mosaic to show the pattern behind Medusa’s head.

Medusa Monday!
This beautiful anthology includes my short story "Athena's Favorite." I planned to post about this last week when it came out in the US, but I got a Medusa level migraine.

Got to be on a panel today at the Southern California Historical Novel Society meeting. It was super fun to talk about the HNS UK conference!
If you’re a historical fiction writer in SoCal, let me know. We’re hoping to have more in-person meetings in the future .

This is my familiar Jojo. People think she’s some kind of doodle or pedigreed dog but she’s husky, chow and 17 other breeds including 3% Chihuahua 2% poodle. She’s a very good dog friend.
