For what it's worth I tried coming up with my own unique ideas every day in '24 and it led to a lot of pain. I'm rolling on tables for a lot of it this time around (using Eteneme's tables from DTRPG) and I think it's gonna work out better

Rolling ahead is definitely a great idea. It can really speed things up, but like you said if you know that it's coming you can drop hints.

I'm glad you liked it! If nothing else, WWN is a fantastic resource for GMs purely because of its extensive random tables; I think it's closer to an actual evolution of 2e than the total redesign of 3e, even if it's mostly B/X-derived.
