"The Tombs of Atuan" -Ursula K. Le Guin #55 ⭐⭐⭐/5 #booksky The 2nd in the Earthsea trilogy. Read this as a kid, but picked it up to see if I remembered the plot correctly. I did. It's age appropriate for a young, avid reader and I would recommend it to the kids in my life.

"Born of Fire and Rain: Journey into a Pacific Coastal Forest" -M.L. Herring #54⭐⭐⭐/5 #booksky Comprehensive history of how the PNW forests have been screwed up by years of mismanagement and what the consequences are/will be. Nothing I didn't already know, but it's devastating anyway.

"Frankenstein: The 1818 Text" -Mary Shelley #53⭐⭐⭐/5 #booksky I had never read the original text, and oof. I had no idea that F & his monster were such wordy emo types. Feels belabored after seeing so many riffs on the theme that moved at pace. Lesson learned.

"The Jennifer Morgue" -Charles Stross #52⭐⭐⭐/5 #booksky A supernatural send-up of a James Bond adventures using the characters from The Atrocity Archives -- arcane spies in the mode of MI6. It's fun. Loved the archetype twist & 007 references.

"When Your Mother Doesn't" -Jill Kelly #51 ⭐⭐⭐/5 I kept turning the pages at a breakneck speed to see if any of these women were okay. Reader, none of them were. I guess there's something about muddling through at horrific odds/abuse but I was not uplifted by this book even with a possible + ending.

"How to Cook A Coyote: The Joy of Old Age" - Betty Fussell #booksky #50 ⭐⭐⭐/5 A reflection on life from a rather comfortable and privileged vantage point. Quirky and thoughtful at times, but honestly I can't get past her $$$ and the life it's afforded her to take her life lessons seriously.
