One of the best things you can learn to say is "I don't know" or "I haven't tried it." Remain curious and open and make sure your opinions are *yours.*
That's really hard to do in a world designed to tell you how to feel about everything, but goddamn is it crucial to like... being a person.

Just like games like Baldur's Gate and Kingmaker, you select points in the world map that could lead to an exploration area, said exploration area could lead to other towns or dungeons. There's also city maps for main cities and things like that. It's kinda funny to get this feeling from a JRPG

I was half joking when I said Romancing SaGa 2 reminded me of Kingmaker, mostly because of the kingdom management stuff. But the more I play it, the more I think they are alike. Even the map traveling in this game reminds me of how exploration works on Kingmaker/CRPG's

My metagamer side is begging me to just load up the previous save and reattempt this fight, but my roleplayer side is already working up a story in my head, the legend of Sagittarius, the emperor who went on a quest to to help the smithy restore her family's legacy but never made it back.

The game here is giving me the choice to restart the game and load my previous save file, OR, play along with the game's systems and accept the character's fate, continuing on with the next generation. Intentionally or not, the game is doing something I've seen few JRPG's do. Let you roleplay.

Got my first game over screen in Revenge of the Seven and I'm taking a moment to appreciate something neat this game does. Romancing SaGa 2 has a mechanic called inheritance where you inherit your trained stats to your successor when your MC reaches a time skip, when you abdicate or when your die.

Whoever was in charge of map design in this game didn't have to go that hard, but I'm glad they did. The towns are just gorgeous, and some of the dungeon areas are also visually interesting.

Highly recommended. From what I hear the demo on the switch 2 is still the switch 1 version, from what I've gathered the switch 2 version proper gives it a nice performance and visual boost.

It also has a kind of FFXIV/Crystal Chronicles vibe with those dungeon intros, all they're missing is the eerie narration from CC. This boss in particular reminded me of one of those early FFXIV dungeons where you fight the mind flayer at the end, I almost felt I was playing that game for a moment.
