..but nowadays? We can drop an absolute white on the palette of blues and just trust the artists will use it on on just ~700-900 pixels of the 65,536 pixel canvas and that absolute white really sings.

It probably would've made sense to make 99% dark canvas with a sliver of white to communicate the, y'know, eclipse. Instead everyone wanted to use the highlight color! Highlights are fun! I can't blame anyone for that.
