Hey Patrick, thanks for reading! There isn't any official proposal moving through the city's bureaucracy to do this, as far as I'm aware, but we can certainly check!

Auraria's encampment has been thrust back into the limelight recently. The Auraria Campus and its three colleges will be subject of a review from a federal civil rights panel.

Centered in the review will be perceived antisemitism originating from the antiwar camp. denverite.com/2025/05/09/d...
A federal panel is looking into alleged antisemitism at Denver’s Auraria Campus. What could happen?
Centered in the review is the anti-war camp that was erected last April in protest of Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza.

A internal campus climate report published months after the protest disbanded showed that the response towards protesters sowed distrust among Auraria campus students.

Meanwhile, dozens of students who weren't involved in the protest, but protective of the right to free speech and peaceful assembly, wrote in to campus leaders, expressing their discontent surrounding the 40 arrests in the opening days of the encampment.

I also saw two instances of Colleen Walker, Auraria's CEO, characterizing the protest as "not peaceful". Auraria is the coordinating body of the entire campus and employs the campus police department, which led the crackdown on the encampment on its Day 2.

I found a lot in these records.

Something that stuck out in my timeline was that campus leaders considered several ways to compromise after being urged to by local lawmakers. But ultimately, they didn't pursue those options.

How Did Strom Thurmond Last Through His 24-Hour Filibuster?
In 1957, Sen. Strom Thurmond prepared for his filibuster against civil rights legislation with steam baths — to become dehydrated so he wouldn't need a bathroom break. He got at least one chance to re...
