My son plays drums, he’s really good. We have no neighborhood garage bands. When I was a kid, I played drums. All my friends were in terrible bands, with godawful names, but we practiced in garages and played tiny cafes and ridiculously small clubs. NIMBY neighbors & no 3rd spaces is a huge problem.

Now that said, I’m not calling my kid’s teachers or hiring a lawyer if they get a B-. I’m not FaceTiming their boss or sitting outside of their interviews. But we totally drive them to school if they want a ride, I’m not proud of it.

It’s true, no cap, we suck. We’re sucky worrywart helicopter parents that can’t bare to make our kids go through what we did. I took public transit across town to school, three buses when I was 9.
