Non-American here. If you don't like your government or the system that enables them - join a trade union.

People hate Labour cos it isn't addressing the cost of living crisis.

But how could a Labour Gov do that? Reduce tax for the most hard pressed; increase taxes for the mega rich and their minnions.

Renationalise the failed utilities that suck the life from our economy.

Stop ignoring the obvious.

Let's face the truth that only people at the centre of the Labour party don't seem to understand -

1) Starmer's Government has been an absolute disaster -

2) the people better equipped to take over the party are quite happy to watch him drown in the flood of his own making

Spurs have been more active in the market than nearly any other Prem. The reality is that there are no excuses other than few clubs want to sell good players right now and therefore there have been opportunities to buy. Who could they buy? Why would Semenyo or Guéhi choose Spurs over Citeh? #COYS

Historic Villa - league founders and lots of olden days success
Recent success: Spurs - Villa have not won anything in the 21st century
Stadium - old x new; middling x big; trad x mod
Financial - Spurs, they're top 10/20 in Europe
Not much in it - both in the win more often than they lose club

I don't understand: "No end to political corruption" - what do you mean?

It's on. I saw Simons coming out of Woolworths in Tottenham High Road with a bag of pick'n'mix and he told me this was like coming home.

Your dad makes a fair point though.

Worth remembering that Conte was a "a more pragmatic coach to extract the most juice from a flawed squad", and was successful with the squad that he had, but it wasn't much fun to watch. And, that the successful Spurs teams of the past shared a seam of toughness - McKay, Perryman, Roberts.

I should have thought it is a bit warm for balaclavas at this time of the year?

If you're in the north west it has to be Man U, or City, Liverpool, Everton, or Burnley. Avoiding relegation suggests you miss Burnley (and maybe Man U and Everton), leaves Man City or Liverpool. Plenty of TV coverage and probably win something in the next two years. Are your ancestors from England?

Has Chelski started their preseason?

OK - but don't forget to ask the owners what their responsibilities are (not just the ones they are only just recognising), and how they have gone about fixing their lack of knowledge since they realised the mistake they made.

Good governance ain't free.

Owners playing at something and not paying attention to the rules - clear or otherwise. Easier to blame a third-party than acknowledging they made a mistake. Would love to see some humility and an apology from the owners. Fans deserve better.

Actually, it does still look like the case; the piece is just EUFA bashing. The rules were clear and the directors failed to do the right thing on time (they didn't expect CP to win the Cup!).

EUFA not perfect, but they didn't fail to get the deal done by 1 March.

My sympathy with CP fans.
July 12, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Can't help thinking that all this UEFA bashing is cover for a failure by CP's directors to follow the rules that were already in place and which they failed to follow.

As is usually the case it is the fans who are made to suffer because owners are so often irresponsible.
