Doh! Epoxy putty might come to your rescue there, it's quite good at sticking to plastics. You'd just need a tiny shim of something over the nib to give you a former to work against.

I only found out about the existence of these rotating staplers recently, which are another great tool and save you having to buy a huge long-arm one.

I'd genuinely considered setting up a site to promote "two fingers up" swearing, as that's been subsumed by the shrinkflated US version.
