What a sad excuse for a “Winter” Classic

No better way to ring in New Year’s Day than literally everyone shoveling & snow blowing their driveways!

13 years ago my wife (before we were dating) opened the Trader Joe’s on NF Blvd as a crew member. This morning she opened the Trader Joe’s on Transit as a manager! Stop by & say hi, and she begs of of you, please buy Buffalo Style Chicken Meatballs

Time to visit a world of hurt, the Transit Regal. I kid, of course, but I am finally seeing Predator: Badlands alongside my brother & a trio of friends. And hey, Elle Fanning will be there! In the Badlands, not the Transit Regal, sadly

Everybody say “Happy Birthday!” to Teddy Spaghetti, who turns 6 today. And he actually smiled for his school picture (albeit on retake day)

It wasn’t *that* bad! No precipitation, winds were minimal, & the sun made an appearance. The worst part about it was the running, honestly. 54:03 for me, for anyone keeping score, but with a time like that, you shouldn’t be. Overall, a good time was had by us crazy WNYer’s. Happy Thanksgiving
Trekking out to the Turkey Trot this morning brings to mind those immortal words from Axl Rose: “Do you know where the fuck you are? You’re in the jungle baby, wake up, time to die.”

Curious that two of my all-time favorite shows/franchises in Buffy & Stargate, both of which premiered in 1997, both spinoffs of feature films, have reboots/revivals announced in 2025. Both franchises lend themselves well to it; Stargate in particular. I know I’ll be watching & hoping for the best!

2 stadiums for the price of 1! Taken after the 50 Yard Finish. Only 20 secs slower than last year despite only running once in that timespan. And still under 30. Truly Blessed, Highly Favored, Under the Law. Go Bills!

Be Good, Do Good, God Bless, and more important than all 3 of those things combined, GO BILLS

Tomorrow begins year 12 in Education & year 2 in my current gig, which is a good gig. Half my HS band graduated so it’ll be a smaller group, but my JH band will be double in size. A transitional year no doubt, which means it’s a big one to set the course for those to come. Get hyped!

I’m having serious fomo at the moment. Both of my immediately neighbors, and a house on an adjective street whose backyard I can see, are all having bonfires right now. Great night for it…

I almost made it through summer without getting sunburned, but 4 hrs at Wing Fest did me in. Also, I am past my prime; maxed out at 26, 10 under what I recall being my best, back when it used to be at the ballpark. Minor quibble: too many wings that are too creative. Still, a great event

Hit up the Falls tonight, Mister M’s & Judi’s Lounge. Mister M’s had solid vibes but mid wings. Judi’s had strip club vibes but solid wings, in particular a 716 Heat wing that mixed horse radish with medium (my first encounter with such a sauce) & it was ELITE
Took a pic with Buffalo Joe! His jersey, anyway, on display at Skoob’s, where we visited last night along with Transit Music Lounge. Neither has mastered a medium wing, sadly, but both offer many unique specialty flavors. We also learned that 1 pitcher does NOT equal 1 pitcher

Took Teddy to his first Bison’s game tonight. Now, as a non-verbal very autistic 5-year old, he did not care, but he loves fireworks & thanks to my wife’s work connections we got to watch ‘em on the field. Also, he mostly tolerated the game; we occupied a row in a less crowded section

Delightful afternoon & evening seeing Beauty & the Beast at Shea’s & getting dinner at District 37 in NT

It’s still too early for Pumpkin beer, despite today’s weather suggesting otherwise, but I’ve got my eye on Southern Tier Brewing. They better not have spilt Maple into their entire batch of Warlock, long superior to Pumking! I’ll try it, but I’ll be mad if it’s a downgrade. Also, bring back Rumking

I didn’t need Kelly Clarkson to host a show where she harmonizes along with other artists singing their songs, interspliced with stories, to know every song would be better with Kelly Clarkson adding harmonies, but I’m not mad I get to hear it

I loved S1 of Poker Face but was underwhelmed by several early S2 eps, which caused me to fall off, but I circled around & there were some much stronger eps in the back half. If I didn’t finish it before Alien Earth, Peacemaker S2, & football, it prob wouldn’t have happened
August 19, 2025 at 3:35 AM
Alien Earth is off to a promising start. Incredibly atmospheric & great callbacks all while carving out its own identity. Not fully enthralled yet, but many critics that rave about it got to screen 6 eps. If eps bleed into one another it’ll always feel incomplete, but I support weekly releases

This is great, because I was hoping to spend a huge chunk of money this summer, and last February we had a guy come out and monkey around with our boiler & guess what, it was rotting from the inside out, leaking CO2, all that fun stuff, so today we’re having a new one installed

Maybe the folks at Coca-Cola or Wegmans can help me since my wife refuses to finish a 12oz can. They make 7.5oz cans, but they’re WAY more expensive. $6 for a 10-pack of 7.5oz, or $13 2 for 1 12-packs of 12oz, which is $6.50 each. $6 for 75oz or $6.50 for 144oz. Too bad I can’t get 69oz for 50 cents
