Very lol. When its perk is active, you also get +360% increased ability damage.

Turns out I’ve played very few 2021 and 2024 releases :P

My personal happy medium would be something that prevented the abilities of swapped exotic armor from being used immediately. Such as 5-10 second lockout for new exotic abilities. Lets us still have a neutral vs dps loadout without having to balance around loadout swaps during dps

Bg3 and hogwarts legacy did a great job with the different difficulty options imo. Both offered a “I’m just here for the story”, “I want to play the game as devs intended”, and “I want to be challenged with extra mechanics” options. Especially now that you can enable honor rules in custom bg3 runs

What else is on that list of indie gems? I offer Stardew Valley

There’s also a trick where you include a custom 404.html that redirects to the SPA with the proper routing. Has SEO and UX implications, so wouldn’t recommend. For another free alternative that supports SPA routing, consider Cloudflare Pages. Fairly easy to setup a GH Actions workflow to auto deploy

Have you tried the stardew board game? HIGHLY recommend, especially if you’re into coop board games

Haven’t tried it yet - is the DLC any good?

Outer Wilds!

Doubtful. Within the current paradigm of even TS, that’s not even that useful. Type-checking in TS (and, by extension, JS) is duck-typing. Having access to type information at runtime beyond expecting specific object structures (duck-types) really suggests a different architecture or language

I have mixed feelings about GraphQL. The flexibility it provides is awesome, especially when it is provided as an interface for static data. But actually interacting with gql APIs is a pain, primarily for error handling and mutations imo

My ideal happy medium is where the Steam achievements are all things that can be done in a single playthrough + a little extra effort. Then you get some sort of in-game reward (in-game achievements separate from steam) for doing the extra stuff, like cosmetics.

Lol had basically the same convo with a friend yesterday. I prefer games where the achievements are either things that you will likely get by just playing the game or a couple of extra secret tasks or puzzles. Would love to have 100% Steam achievements but not 100% game completion than vice versa.

Unfortunately not enough casual gamers anymore. Self-feeding cycle too: companies see more of the playerbase being competitive and lean into it, making it hard for casuals to play any game with competitive elements, even in unranked. Used to love OW/Val but can’t play without feeling drained anymore

I’m with you in the minority lol. I agree, I personally find it clunkier and harder to read.

I rather would have the CSS explicitly maintained elsewhere (but still close to the components themselves), usually in styled-components or SCSS modules.

Typescript for actually building things.

Python for making quick scripts or tinkering.

IMO, any game that is designed in such a way where the DLC(s) are part of the “complete” experience are at best poorly designed and at worst cheap cash grabs.

Some MMOs/true live service like WoW, D2, etc. where the game itself is a story that expands over time, can break this rule occasionally.

Completely agree. Super hard to get back into a game after beating it.

The only DLCs I’ve enjoyed were those used the engine but offer a separate experience than the base game. Outer Wilds is an excellent example - base game feels complete, but the DLC is a separate experience that complements it.
