I feel for Pez. He wasn't put in a position to succeed. But his value as a 13th forward was he could be scratched for 30 straight games with no consequences. They need a 13th forward who can play an actual shift when called upon

I expected #habs post-Christmas schedule to well and truly sink their season. An 11 game stretch with 9 games on the road, travel between every game. We're 10 games into that stretch and they are 7-2-1. Points in 8 of 10 during the start of the hardest part of their schedule. Tough final test tmrw

@arponbasu.bsky.social and @magodin.bsky.social had a great chat on the latest #basuandgodin notebook about the trade deadline and I dig the idea of keeping all 4 UFAs instead of trading them. Arpon said it would reward the team for their play, but I think it may also be the best thing for them.

One strong team after another and the Habs are not overmatched, even taking on the Wilde Goat schedule maker.

Also, thoughts on the Rocket.

I used to wonder what it would look like if #habs Armia ever put it all together. I'm starting to think it looks like Patrik Laine. 92 obviously brings high end offensive play. But he also has a sneaky strong physical game, he's excellent on the boards and uses soft hands to escape with the puck.

Caufield is not just scoring goals, which one in each of the past 5 games. He's scoring big goals - each of the 5-goals-straight he has scored have been the first of the game for the #habs. He's leading the way, getting his team on the board and setting them up for success. #gohabsgo #nhl #canadiens

Ivan Demidov is scoring at a 3.8 pts/60 almost 40 games into his KHL career. Can anyone put that into context? What does it suggest for his NHL future?
January 2, 2025 at 5:26 PM
I read earlier that the Habs have the same record now that they had at this time last year. The big difference? Last year at this time, the Habs were trending down and getting smoked on their dreaded holiday road trip. This year, they're trending up.
