Reporting always over-emphasises division amongst progressives but these are not people built for collaborating with each other. Labour, like the Tories are soon to be obsolete brands, although what comes next is frightening.

It’s a beautiful page. The way the composition seamlessly pivots to the order of speech, the verisimilitude of the poses, the interplay of light and shade and pattern. And look at Maggie, moving on and growing up while her younger friends replay the same teen dramas that she and Hopey once did…

I noticed a lot of the high profile online criticism of say House of Dynamite was directed at the way it failed to deliver on the expectations promised by the set up, which struck me as a deliberate artistic choice and kind of the point of the film…

…they simply failed to take into account the tilted position of the car seats in their original analysis. When you set everyone’s position in the car correctly, the bullets’ trajectory is as you’d expect.

Have I misunderstood something? The phrase “[deadly thing], feet first” means the subject has self-immolated, and the context suggests (not unreasonably) that by making the quoted statement they have done so in a social, rather than literal sense. Which is a reasonably inarguable observation, no?

The same week as the new Robert Crumb, the latest Crickets and lots of other great stuff, one of the strongest new comics days in living memory. And this masterpiece goes top of the pile. Feels new and fresh but also like a long lost classic at the same time.
