It’s very funny that in the very same statement they suggest that the Pacers could have opted to play their guys reduced minutes rather than sit them out altogether, and then fine the Jazz 5X more for…playing their guys reduced minutes.

Man I don’t like the precedent this sets regarding coach autonomy
Also, haven’t we since discovered that part of the reason JJJ was sitting out fourth quarters was due to his knee? Silver citing his benching in light of that news make it seem like the league knee jerked their way into this decision

That’s fair, Miami was less than impressive. That Jazz front court in particular ought to have no business winning games against playoff teams, even eastern conference ones.

My only potential complaint is about its effectiveness.
As evidenced by tonight’s win, there is a fair amount of talent to be developed in those bench units.

I’m not one to draw a line between “ethical” and “unethical” tanking, it all basically sucks. That said, this is a more fun way tank from a fans perspective. I get to see the best Jazz player, plus developmental minutes for young prospects, without (hopefully) too many w’s.

Is it better for them to go for the 50/50 proposition, or to crawl out of the cellar and gun for 10th, which guarantees they keep the pick and still gives them a 10% chance to jump into the top 4?
