We respectfully disagree :) The ISS cost about $150 billion over 25 years, far less than trillions spent on wars, bailouts, or defense. It has brought science, global teamwork, and not to mention the incredible views that remind us how small and connected we all are.

They’ll merge to some degree as they become extratropical, at which point they’ll no longer be hurricanes. Some forecasts show impacts for Iceland, Ireland and UK by the weekend.

#Humberto and #Imelda are so close to each other that their circulating winds cancel each other out in a calm “col” area in between them.

🇧🇲 Bermuda needs to be on alert however as Imelda will likely cause flash flooding and damaging waves from Wednesday into Thursday.
zoom.earth
It’s possible for them to merge, but if they do, it would likely only disrupt and weaken them both in the process, not make an even stronger system. In this case however, Humberto is stronger and its upper atmospheric flow will pull Imelda away.

It’s not unheard of, but this is definitely a healthy extratropical cyclone.

Tropical Depression 9 and Major Hurricane #Humberto this morning 🌀🌀

#TD9 is forecast to strengthen over the Bahamas this weekend and could be near hurricane strength as it nears Florida by Monday.

The NHC expects it to turn away from the U.S. coast, although much uncertainty remains.

They don’t as the waters are too cold. This is the remains of Hurricane Gabrielle, but it will still bring high waves and stormy weather.
