And that can be boring. It's like watching the Redbox knockoff of a good movie when you could just be watching the good movie. I get it.

Clearly the solution is more Silent Hill games.

I think holding a fair bit of the community back from taking the magnifying glass to these titles (besides a lack of iconography) is the post 4 world of SH is basically shooting for the Mary twist or at the very least "this version of hell is also your therapist. Let's explore that trauma."
January 29, 2026 at 11:12 PM
What I really wanna see is analysis of any other SH game on the same granular level SH2 has gotten for two decades.

Really and more specifically, I wanna see Origins through Downpour because they almost get the Scrubs Season 9 treatment of "Sure is a shame no SH games came out after 4 before F."
January 29, 2026 at 11:12 PM
There's a very real chance whatever you've said about this game was said before Obama was president on a GameFAQ's forum.

This is basically just a long ass thread saying I'm done partaking in analysis of James Sunderland and Friends as they traipse through a New England Hellscape.
January 29, 2026 at 11:12 PM
And look, I'm being an old man yelling at a cloud about this and I acknowledge it. I don't wanna be a killjoy but I also feel pretty strongly that this game, even after a remake that practically doubles the playtime of the original, as little new earth to till.
January 29, 2026 at 11:12 PM
I have heard it all. From start to stop. I've heard James being sympathetic, a piece of shit, more nuanced that you'd think, a lot simpler than the internet gives him credit for, crueler compared to usual analysis, as kind or as mean as his ending and everything in between.

You cannot convince me that there isn’t some historical dark wielding keyblade user somewhere in the KH history that became a user of darkness specifically because he learned too late that the test he spent his life preparing for failed him over a split second where his hand got all purple smokey.
January 24, 2026 at 12:11 PM
Terra, on the other hand, let the stress of the test get to him for a moment and his master failed him, citing that his darkness wasn’t in check.

Failing a huge test like that is likely to stir even more feelings of darkness, ain’t it? I know Terra fucked off an hour after the test but c’mon.
January 24, 2026 at 12:11 PM
Basically the antagonist of the series pins him and down pumps him full of darkness like he has 50 cents off on the pump. Dude was being manipulated from the second the test started but because these very unfavorable circumstances happened to Sora, he failed his exam.
January 24, 2026 at 12:11 PM
They’re basically darkness evaluations. The test two tests we’ve seen throws you into a super goddamned stressful situation and checks if the darkness wins out or not.

You even fail if external darkness grabs ya. Sora failing is nonsense to me.
January 24, 2026 at 12:11 PM
Every heart has some darkness in it unless you’re one of seven special ladies. Letting anger, jealousy, greed or paranoia (or really a lot of other stuff) rule your thinking grows it. And in the Mark of Mastery exam, you’re told the test is one thing, but both we saw are actually another.

I understand folks have been burned before by this sort of thing (usually by Disney and their many "first queer characters") but this isn't the same thing. Someone is telling us a story and they're not even halfway done.
January 23, 2026 at 12:48 PM
I hate how little of an attention span and patience modern audiences have. If it's not blatantly put in front of them, louder than an airhorn on full blast, people act like it isn't there or didn't happen and they'll act like an as of yet unfinished story is dropping the ball.
January 23, 2026 at 12:48 PM
Viv and her team have, if the first two seasons are any indication, another 24 episodes where this major character can be shown being exclusively into women. Some 650~ minutes. I'm pretty sure they'll pull it off and she's not pulling a Rowling.

Like, strike pretty sure, I'm beyond confidant.
January 23, 2026 at 12:48 PM
It's why people, myself included, feel Dumbledore wasn't written being gay in mind but Rowling's need to pretend every detail was planned from the first page of the first book caused her to answer if Dumbledore found someone that the man was gay.

And that wasn't what the fan asked, but go off.
January 23, 2026 at 12:48 PM
The reason why Dumbledore being confirmed as gay by the creator was a shitty move done exclusively to seem cool to the LGBTQ+ community was because Rowling had seven books across 4k pages and nearly a million words where she could have said *SOMETHING* but instead waiting until it was over.

Remember when good games had parts? The apartment complex in SH2 or the water temple in any Zelda? We stuck it out through bad parts if we enjoyed the game as a whole.

Like, I’m not saying you need to beat every game even if you hate it, but it can’t all cater to one person’s very specific tastes?
January 22, 2026 at 10:10 PM
Personally, I have zero interest in Expedition 33. I’ve never been a big fan of Paper Mario style turn based.

I don’t have a podcast or YouTube channel where the number of hours recorded of me hating on that game exceeds the E33’s runtime. These people can’t be anything resembling fun to be with
January 22, 2026 at 9:54 PM
Offputting is absolutely the right word for it. And making hating one specific title a part of who you are as a person and making that everyone’s problem is the social equivalent of walking barefoot on scrap metal and broken glass.

Even if you hate it, just stay away from it and move on, right?
January 22, 2026 at 9:50 PM
I tend to blame social media engagement farming and disingenuous rage baiting, though I might be giving too much credit and reading malice where there’s ignorance.

Either way, I’m with ya in that it’s annoying to see people making unrelenting hate for media a part of their personality.
