It's a soft chew stick for cats. No idea what is really in them but the crows go crazy for them (as do cats). I suppose it contains a little meat. Dread to think what other stuff is in there. You can get them for dogs too but they're a little tougher to chew but the crows don't seem to mind

Thanks Cory. Yes, this crow has moulted in a really strange way and there is another one just like it but much smaller than all the other crows. I assume it's the moult but I'll find out for certain in the next month or two. If the chest does not heal, it's probably something else

A heavily moulting crow with very few of its chest feathers remaining. It's chest is mostly made up of soft downy underfeathers. It has the lake behind it and to its left are bright yellow flowers and to its right, a green plant. The crow looks a tad bemused

I was utterly shocked and I just had to accept the idea that crows do things differently. Who knows the background. Maybe they sensed it wasn't well. I have no idea what happened that day but I try not to dwell on it too much.

It's true, crows adore dog food and cat food and any other meaty treats. This afternoon, I dropped a piece of Southern Fried chicken on the floor when I was eating in town. I wrapped it up and took it with me and gave it to my two neighbourhood crows with a handful of nuts. Two very happy birds 😊
