I get it now: Trump and his crew view liberal order as the main internal enemy and therefore Russia is viewed as an ally and most of Europe as an adversary.

His actions make sense to me now.

W/R/T the ceasefire proposal, Trump is about to complete the one of the biggest self-embarrasments in the history of politics. Putin will flatly say no and all the maneuvering around Ukraine and Europe will prove to have been pointless, leaving him looking like a total fool.
