One of my fav mechanics from the game

It's time we moved past counting squares for the rest of our lives to play a damn ttrpg.

There are some noble concepts in it, but it does have the sense of "kitchen sink of mechanics".

There are a lot of them, and they aren't clean procedures.

Artwork is cool. I like the cards in particular. The character sheet design is good. The book was laid out by someone who understands good UX.

There’s a very specific Venn diagram out there: a single circle made up of people shouting “games should be free, piracy lolers,” who are somehow also vehemently anti-AI.

It’s always “pay artists,” right up until paying artists means they can’t get their free PDFs.

I /think/ it boils down to this: being pro-paying creators in TTRPGs but also anti-piracy seems to break people’s brains.

They can hold one idea or the other, just not both at the same time.

That sounds a lot more realistic than grinding out endless adventures, free supplements, and trying to maintain constant visibility in a crowded space where everyone is fighting for the same sliver of attention.

The "Without Number" series is a fascinating look at where built-in audience, with a little bit of chutzpah, low effort KS marketing, can sustain a game.

Rather that a constant flow of adventures/free content/ever-presence in spaces with ppl that are fighting for the same customer's attention.
