He doesn't want things fixed, he just wants continue to be abusive.

My (28F) bf (30M) isn't speaking to me since we went to couples counselling. Any advice?

Me and my boyfriend of 2 years have been having lots of issues, mainly around him not considering me and if I tell him something upset me, he reacts angrily and has recently said and done some really mean things. So we started counselling as I'm at a breaking point.

First session the counsellor was just getting to know us - and I really avoided saying anything too negative as my bf had said the day before "are you going to say mean things about me?". I hyped myself up for the second session, feeling confident that I am more than reasonable to be hurt by these things and struggling to forgive when there's no effort to repair. The second session was yesterday and essentially all I got to say was that my goal for this was for him to treat me with respect and not call me names anymore. He shut down from that point, which the counsellor commented on and tried to bring him back down. Reflecting on it now, it just feels like we were both coddling him the whole time and being like "i know it's hurtful to hear you've hurt her". Like I'm the one that's deeply hurt, why are we focusing on him being hurt that he's hurt me? I didn't even say specific examples of what he's said and done to me because he was clearly shut down to the whole thing. Since then, he's

Advice Needed

So... I (28F) have been seeing a therapist for about a year now. My boyfriend of two years, let's call him "Evan," is an aspiring stand-up comedian. He's actually funny, dark humor, observational stuff, mostly about dating and work.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, one of his friends sent me a clip from an open mic he did. I started watching and froze halfway through. He was doing bits about me. Not like cute anecdotes, verbatim things I told him from therapy.

He joked about how I "trauma dump after two glasses of wine," how I "need validation like oxygen, and even mentioned how my dad leaving when I was 8 made me "chronically online." The crowd laughed.

When I confronted him, he said I was "overreacting" and that it's "art, not personal." His defense was that comedians "draw from real life," and he didn't use my name. But it's obviously me. His friends know. Our mutuals know.

A few years ago there was a random -4C (I think that's about 28F?) night in mid-spring and we got fuck all fruit off our trees that year.

My friend hasn't been as lucky in the relationship department. Her first husband abused her and she almost immediately started another relationship after her divorce. While dating her current husband (36m) they were in a rocky spot and she asked my husband to sleep with her. He refused, and told me about it. I trust him fully, and know he'd never cheat. My relationship with my best friend after that was bad. I eventually forgave her because at the time I thought she just was making a desperate attempt for male validation from one of the few decent men she knew.

Not long after that moment she rushed into marriage with her now husband. He is a good guy but they both divorced abusive ex's and didn't take the time to heal before jumping into their relationship. While my husband and I try to be supportive It's clear they're not really right for each other, they both want different things and are trying to force the relationship to work.

While I do feel bad for her luck when it comes to love, I learned a lot from a mutual friend this past week that has me questioning everything I thought I new about my best friend.

It turns out she didn't just ask my husband to sleep with her, she also asked the mutual friend. Not just once but for almost the entirety of her time dating her current husband she would make advances on our mutual friend. I was honestly shocked to learn this. A stupid mistake while desperate and hurting is one thing, but actively pursuing someone while in a relationship is another. A bit of context my husband and mutual friend are Hispanic while my best friend and I are white. While talking to our mutual friend, my best friend mentioned how she wasn't sure her marriage would work out. As a joke my mutual friend said she should have married a Mexican. She then told him she should have married my husband. Not someone like my husband, not a friend of my husband, but my husband himself. It wasn't in a joking manor either, she was serious and named him specifically.

I am beyond floored. I haven't talked to her since learning it and I'm not sure I want to stay her friend. I've always had a difficult time making friends and I have terrible social anxiety with new people so my friend circle is extremely small. I tend to forgive people too easily and put myself last.

I also feel like I should tell her husband, but my husband thinks we shouldn't get involved and let them deal with their own issues.

Back when we were still in the talking stage, I already had bad vibes about them. Something about how they acted around him felt off - kind of possessive and territorial. My MIL caused drama at our wedding, and my husband says I'm "overreacting." How do I explain how much this hurt me without making it worse?

I (28F) married my husband (30M) last weekend. The ceremony was beautiful, and I really wanted the whole day to feel peaceful and joyful. Unfortunately, his mom caused some issues during the reception, and now my husband and I are arguing about how to handle it.

For context, my MIL ("Carol") and my mom have always had a weird tension between them. Nothing explosive - just subtle competitiveness and passive comments. I honestly thought everyone would be on their best behavior for the wedding.

But during the reception, Carol made an unscheduled toast. It started fine ("We're so proud of Jake, we love Emma"), but then she added, "I just hope she can take care of Jake the way I always have." Everyone laughed uncomfortably. I was embarrassed, but I let it

go.

Later that night, the wedding cake was brought out, except part of it was already missing. Turns out, Carol had taken a piece before we even did the cake cutting. She told the coordinator, "I paid for part of this wedding, I can eat when I want."

I asked the coordinator to quietly switch to the backup sheet cake instead of making a scene. Carol apparently got upset about this, started crying, and told my husband "embarrassed" her. My husband spent the next half hour calming her down while I sat alone waiting for him.

Afterward, I tried to talk to him about how hurt I was, not just by what she did, but by how quickly he took her side. My husband told me he hated me while we were being intimate, and now he's acting like it's not a big deal

This is my first Reddit post. It feels wild sharing this online but I don't feel comfortable talking to my friends or family about it. I'm at a loss right now and truly do not know how to feel

My husband (28M) and I (28F) have been married for almost two years. Lately, it feels like we've been fighting about everything both big and small.

A few days ago during an argument, I told him (for the first time) that it felt like he hated me. He immediately apologized, comforted me, and said that wasn't true. He assured me that he loved me and never wanted me to feel that

Later that same night, we went over to our neighbors house to watch the UFC fights. We both had a few drinks while we were there, nothing crazy though. When we had got home, we started being intimate. We've always had a playful and good dynamic in that area, and we're comfortable with each other.

We both enjoyed some dirty talk with each other and had been doing it for years. But this time, something felt different. In the middle of us having sex, he leaned in close and whispered in my ear, "I hate you." I froze, thinking surely I must have misheard him. But then he said doubled down and said it again.

I immediately told him to stop. I don't even think he realized I was serious until I yelled at him to get off of me. I was completely shock and couldn't even find the words to say to him in that moment, so I just ended up sleeping in the guest room that night.

The next morning, we had plans to go to Costco. The car ride was silent and tense until I finally brought it up. I told him how weird and hurtful it was that he said that to me. He brushed it off, saying that he was just drunk, that he didn't mean it, and that I t was just part of "dirty talk". He convinced me that I was overreacting.

But this wasn't the same as what we've done before, not even close. Especially because earlier that very day, I told him it felt like he hated me. And then he said those exact words during one of our most vulnerable moments.

By the time we pulled into the Costco parking lot, I was crying. I told him I wasn't going inside and just sat in the car, trying to process what had happened.

I don't know if I'm overreacting, but I can't shake how wrong this feels. I keep replaying it in my head and just feel embarrassed and ashamed. The whole situation is so bizarre it doesn't even feel real.

AlTA for pointing out my daughter's "imperfections" after she said understood why her father cheated on me since I gained so much weight ?

I (45f) feel extremely guilty. I wonn't act as if I'm the most desirable wife in the world. I did gain a lot of weight. I did let myself go. My husband (47m) is, by far, the better looking one. But I don't think I deserved to be cheated on. He did the stereotypical thing of cheating on me with a young, thin, woman (28f).

Of course, my husband didn't want to be the one to tell our daughter (22f) that we're getting divorced. We only have the one daughter. Even though she's an adult, I expected it to hurt her. Our daughter was always closer to her father than me.

The talk was just between my daughter and I. I told her that her father and I both love her more than anything and that nothing will change that. That neither of us regret a marriage that gave us her. But we're getting a divorce. She just stared into space and I hugged her.

After the hug, she was just staring at me. Out of nowhere she asked if her father had cheated on me. I had no plans on telling her that but I didn't know what to say given that she asked. I said yes. She asked me what did I expect. She said she understood why he did it since I had gained so much weight. I was devastated all over again. That was the last thing I expected her to say.

I know that my daughter has a boyfriend (25m). I told my daughter that she's not so thin herself and I asked her what if her boyfriend cheated on her because of her weight. I asked her what if her boyfriend cheated on her because of her acne. I told her that right now she smelled and she's wearing crappy clothes. I asked her if she expects her boyfriend to love her as she is or to cheat on her. She had tears in her eyes. She told me that I shouldn't be picking on her since my man don't find me sexy anymore.

I (28F) and fiancé (30M) have been together for 6 years. We got engaged last year and welcomed our first baby 3 weeks ago. During my pregnancy, he was attentive, came to all the appointments, and told me he was "ready to be a dad."

Now that the baby is here, he's completely different. He sleeps in the guest room because he "can't handle the crying."
