RE: Melvins' Houdini. It starts off like a kind of humorless Black Sabbath BUT you get this really rich landscape of sludge metal with various influences. I had a lot of good songs to choose from. Honorable mention: the cover of KISS's "Goin' Blind" is first rate. #52songsin2026

Week 4:
Foo Fighters - The Colour and The Shape (1997)
Favorite Song: "My Hero"

Felt like I needed to finally listen to this one. Hot take - it's bland and way too overproduced. My Hero is basically the best by default.

Week 2:
Bauhaus - The Sky's Gone Dark (1982)
Favorite Song: "Swing the Heartache"

Wild album - I can hear both the Slits and Modest Mouse in different songs. Had to listen twice. Loved it the second time. Experimental post-punk with some flourish.

Week 1:
Jaded Juice Riders - Bowl Cut (2017)
Favorite Song: "Ready to Go"

A nice lofi pop surf pop album. A bit underwhelming but Ready to Go is a surprising nice change of pace. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VKv...
