I tried to tell people the "This is an Xbox" campaign was a death rattle. I've worked in marketing too long to miss a rake step that big. But that kind of initiative isn't something marketing gets to make, so they had to Sideshow Bob that shit, floated by a $69B sunk cost fallacy in the ABK buyout.
I think @pizzadinosaur.fineti.me had the best read on this during this week's @fineti.me when he said Xbox has "Dreamcast'd themselves"

The money coming from gaming now includes a $69B purchase, which is different than what it was when this Play Anywhere thing started. So yes, owning one of the most profitable IPs and gaming franchises in the world changes the math now. But when they started down this road, that wasn't the case.
