As an actual console, it performed exactly like an Amiga with a cdrom, minus the keyboard and mouse. Which is to say you might as well have bought an A600 and a CD drive, honestly

I positively agree with your opinions. I had 6 Amiga models back in the day and the A600 was the least favourite at the time. The A500+ was gone from the sales agents and I wanted Workbench 2.0 and the 2MB chip memory. I had it only for 4 months because I needed the keypad for OctaMED.

I played Alien Breed 3D on my A500 Mini... It definitely worked a lot better than it would have on actual unaccelerated hardware! I have a loose A600 and a boxed A1200, but neither of them work right now unfortunately. Same for the Atari STe I have, but I have a replacement mainboard for it!

Then lots of missteps - Plus/4, C16, C128, C65, CDTV, A600… lots of stuff that the market didn’t ask for nor need. The Amiga big boxes after the 2000 were all pretty much disasters. Buggy, underpowered and expensive. The Amiga had great promise, but the C= engineers didn’t know how to advance it

The problem with the A600 is it was supposed to be a cheaper, cost reduced machine compared to the A500, but ended up costing more because this was 1990s Commodore.

An Amiga 600 with HDD (CF-Card). Cleaning, retrobright and installing Workbench on CF-Card. The A600 has an A604n chipmen extension installed.

I find myself on Christmas Day watching a video on Amiga hardware accelerators, and I cannot stress what a total abomination the A600 was in every way.
