Placing the onus on the landlord and Airbnb to self police. Under intense lobbying from Airbnb this idea was dropped

All Airbnbs being rented year round are in contravention of planning laws. Houses built for private residential tenancy need to apply for change of use. If you built a house without following the rules it could be torn down. We could solve this Airbnb problem overnight, there’s no political will.

Luz verde de Ayuso al plan de Almeida para reordenar los pisos Airbnb
Frenazo en seco al aumento de anuncios que ofrece la plataforma Airbnb en Madrid. La página que recopila toda su oferta actual, Inside Airbnb, ha registrado un descenso del 15,7% en septiembre con respecto a los datos que contabilizaba solo dos meses antes, en julio: ha pasado de 16.959 pisos turísticos a 14.297, según las últimas cifras disponibles.
El descenso ha sido publicado por el Ayuntamiento de Madrid, que en una nota de prensa distribuida este martes cita las diferentes medidas puestas en marcha desde el consistorio para perseguir los miles de apartamentos turísticos que operan en Madrid sin licencia, entre ellas el Plan Reside.
Sin embargo, los efectos de este plan en las cifras se limitaban a los 11 días desde que entró en vigor, el pasado 4 de septiembre, hasta la fecha en la que la página Inside Airbnb efectuó la recopilación de los datos, el 15 de septiembre.
Sí que tuvieron más semanas para hacer efecto dos medidas impulsadas desde el Gobierno de España, como el la orden de despublicar 65.000 anuncios en toda España, lanzada a Airbnb desde el Ministerio de Consumo en el mes de julio. Y el regístro único al que obliga el Ministerio de Vivienda también desde este verano, que afecta a estos mismos anuncios.
