I hear the Internship program at Rutgers UBHC in Piscataway is really good, but I might be biased 😀 #APPIC

Ty for this incredibly validating post.

If I had a dollar for everytime I wasted a day doing my dissertation, emailed @olinotom.bsky.social in distress, and he asked me about the scales I could have paid my APPIC fees

APA and APPIC won’t be brave enough to lead, but I do think they’ll follow once they detect a critical mass of pissed off folks with courage and integrity.

As much as I agree re: power trips, folks need to realize that in situations involving serious misbehavior, power flows both ways.

Just like our administration, there are some malevolent entities in psychology training that seem to really get off on the power in that gate keeping role 🙄🤢. Ethics code doesn’t seem to apply to them, and neither APPIC, APA, nor schools will do anything to stop them

APA and APPIC rules would forbid posing your question to an intern or post-doc. It's very structured and rigidly adhered to.

Happy #APPIC Match Day to all the trainees who matched in phase 2!

It’s important to note over half of P2 applicants did not secure an internship, let alone an APA accredited spot, and truly speaks to the major problems with the current APPIC system that need to be improved for trainees.

Phase 2 of #APPIC match is so weird. Match day 2.0 is in 6 days. I feel excited and encouraged, but that’s exactly how I felt during phase 1??? Just hoping I get matched 🤞🏽

Now is the time for programs to unite for our students. What is required? I assume we need to advocate to every state licensing board? APA, APPIC, and PCSAS? Change every doctoral handbook nationally? This is potentially a huge undertaking but so important. Does anyone know the steps to take?

My brain is exhausted from reviewing APPIC phase 2 apps

Yes, subjectively it seemed like there were more surprises than usual for us this year. And it looks like the imbalance ticked up, based on APPIC data. The whole thing feels too much like a hazing process in any event tbh

I’m a little confused, b/c I searched the last 5 years of Phase 1 match statistics on the APPIC website on Match Day, and they were strangely consistent at around 87% matched, 13% unmatched for several years now. Of course, the APPIC site is now down for maintenance, so I can’t go back and check? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Applying for #APPIC internships in Phase I is a marathon. And applying in Phase II is a sprint. You are almost there! We are rooting for you!

It’s been a bad week, to say the least.
- Fiancée and I have been without a fridge for over a week
- Paper got rejected for a second time on Thursday, on #APPIC Match Day Eve
- I didn’t match and now I’m in Phase 2.

I guess I need good vibes sent my way. But I really just need to MATCH

A huge congrats to our amazing board members, Jacqueline Hatcher (Secretary) & Emily Murphy (Communications Chair ), on #APPIC matching! We’re so proud of you both & excited for what’s ahead. And congrats to everyone who completed Phase I! Wishing those in Phase II and beyond the best of luck!
