#ATCommunityFund
For people following along at home, yes I ended up buying wecanjustdothings .community for the #ATCommunityFund

Might just be a great conference theme / slogan!

All I did below was setup the TXT to point to @atprotocol.dev

I'm going to be promoting the "we" version of this, too!

We debated calling this a microgrant.

We’re going to do some more writing about what we think the #ATCommunityFund can support.
September 25, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Nick was one of the first @bsky.app microgrant recipients last year, and we've now got lots of new features, self hosting, search, webhooks and more to talk about.

You can help support infrastructure costs (and, test out the badges feature!) by contributing to the #ATCommunityFund open collective

Hey @swyx.io!

Yeah, it's just a pile of tech talks, the conference & some events, and it's me and a handful of other folks from the #ATCommunityFund, not a developer hub!

There are no paid devrel or ecosystem roles by anyone yet!

Lots more community infra needed.
September 26, 2025 at 7:50 PM
Secondly, the #ATCommunityFund can support developers and commons infrastructure with grants and hosting costs.

This is very small funding compared to paying people full time, but it means we can unblock experiments and make it so devs aren’t paying for server costs out of their own pocket.

We are slowly setting up #ATCommunityFund to support more things, especially when a little bit of money deployed quickly can support massive impact things like an alternate mobile app.

Peter Wang's @skyseed.fund is the only one that is doing grants at the moment.

#ATCommunityFund which I run isn't going to be doing general purpose grants, but rather try and pool funds for commons infrastructure

Post a write up somewhere to share what you're thinking!

If there are some expenses we can help cover through #ATCommunityFund

I'm really glad that the Raft Foundation agreed to support us with fiscal sponsorship for the new #ATCommunityFund.

Their values are very inspiring, and are the exact kind of collective that I'm proud to be a part of.
We'll end with some of the Raft Foundation's values:

A raft is about survival and adventure, collaboration and flow. Amidst today's torrent of crises, it's easy to feel helpless. But we believe that if we work together, we can stay afloat, and even shape our collective destiny.

By the many, for the many.

We look forward to working with @freeourfeeds.com.

The #ATCommunityFund will be supporting them by keeping up with the latest in the fast moving ATProto community.

The initial project committee members for #ATCommunityFund are @knowtheory.net, @ngerakines.me, and @bmann.ca

Additional people will join the committee, plus advisors with specialist skills, and come up with governance approaches on what kinds of projects we want to take on.

Creating fiscal sponsorship entities, building mailing lists, and finding sponsors can be significant hurdles.

The #ATCommunityFund can help reduce those burdens to make creating and growing ATProto developer communities easier.

This is community commons infrastructure that we can share.

Big news this morning: @freeourfeeds.com is donating $50K to the #ATCommunityFund to support work on #IndieSky - supporting the working group, R&D, and code.

This has lead to a series of discussions and investigation into what it would mean to bring location data on to AT Protocol.

@ngerakines.me and @bmann.ca will be the volunteer stewards around the project under the #ATCommunityFund -- read more from last week.

I mean....is there such a thing as a _final_ sponsor? More like sponsors that we just haven't met yet!

A reminder that #ATmosphereConf is community organized and volunteer run, hosted by the #ATCommunityFund -> atprotocol.dev/introducing-...

As part of running the first #ATmosphereConf, we wanted to do it properly, and have it run through a non-profit.

The #ATCommunityFund wants to support communities and events in ways that focus on bringing people together and fostering collaboration.
March 1, 2025 at 12:53 AM
A foundation or other single large entity is an anti-pattern: we should be aiming for multi-polar coordination, with many entities pooling capital and collaboration.

Support & funding important work that needs to get done in and around the protocol to make it successful is #ATCommunityFund goal.
