I read half of that book in HS, and picked it back up years later when a friend convinced me it was Stephen King’s first foray into comedy writing, and had a much better time with it.

Movie’s a pretty faithful adaptation too.

The beloved 1990 adaptation of Stephen King's IT was almost directed by horror legend George Romero, but he left the project for a very good reason.

The genres were clarified in the beginning (including anime adaptation), the author is building the story accurately and steadily. But they have to clarify for people who don’t bother to check genre and then make false accusations that may damage their reputation. This is a right thing to do.

Howard Hawks's adaptation of this (for the omnibus "O. Henry's Full House") is really good. I saw a few minutes of a later film of it, with Joe Spinell and Harry Dean Stanton as the crooks - didn't seem to be an upgrade.
