Every apothecary is a bit of a chemist in order to mix medicine. Serara takes pride in her knowledge of precise measurements and what works with what, or not.
Chemistry is what it is to us, with some additional fantasy elements. ->

Yap at me, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Does your world have any chemists or alchemists? Are they living at the time of your characters' journey or are they ancient history? What did they discover? What *is* chemistry or alchemy in your setting?

In theory, yes. Though someone with money and education have easier access to it. But even an illiterate farmer can invent better fertilizer or think of a better pulley system to get water from the well.

Welcome to the first week of #DecemberWorldbuilders! This week is about SCIENCE (broadly speaking) (you can play along even if you're writing pre-industrial fantasy!)
Today's Q: Can anyone in your world participate in scientific research? Or is it reserved for elites?

It's commonly known that all races in Gaia were created by gods. Perhaps not the current gods, but ancient ones. The races from outside of Gaia - like fairies and dragons - are more unknown, but most think they too were created by old gods.

#Ame_NephilimWIP
Hello, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Tell us about the creation of your people according to the in-world lore. Were they created by gods? Did they evolve from single-celled organisms? Maybe a bit of both? Maybe they don't know, and maybe they have stories about it. What are their creation myths?

#Ame_NephilimWIP

M isn't an antagonist to Serara or Zaki, personally. Her targets are people around them who they care about, and the gods themselves, and Serara's faith is very important to her. M's accomplice Gin is connected to Zaki on a personal level, however.
Why is the antagonist of your MC their antagonist? What caused the friction? #WritingPrompt

Serara likes blues and greens and purples. The doctor's armband is green and yellow.

Zaki prefers dark colors to blend into shadows. Browns, greys, dark green and blue. Not so much black, though.

Does your character have a particular color scheme?

Are there specific colors they prefer for their clothing, accessories, hair etc?

Is it for practical (e.g. stealth) or aesthetic purposes?

Serara is never without her medicine bag (or at least a pocket first aid kit). One never knows when a band aid or headache cure is needed.

Zaki always has at least one weapon and a hidden set of lockpicks at all times. There's always a lock in the way...

"When it is confusing to describe the scene otherwise" is a fitting description. Also if it makes sense for the MC to know their name.
Some of my background characters get a name because the scene calls for it, even if that character never show up again. ->

Is it when they speak a line of dialogue? Have a certain amount of importance to the story? When it is confusing to describe the scene otherwise?

Serara; When her parents divorced and her mom left. Too long she though it was her fault, but it taught her to be independent.

Zaki: When he was taken and sold as a slave. He might not have been alive today if the assassins hadn't bought and raised him.

The Bronze War took place over 1000 years ago, but it's effects linger to this day. No one dares speak the Bronze Dragon's name, and the fighters who died still haunt the battlefield. Those who fought for him had their names erased from history. ->

#CreativesConcourse

Yan from #Ame_NephilimWIP is the youngest protag at 7. But he's mostly along for the ride, so I'm not sure it counts.

The youngest MC is Enuar ( #Ame_MagelingWIP ), at 16. His age is a hinderance at times as people doesn't take him seriously, and his insecurities doesn't help.
For this week's #CreativesConcourse, we discuss our heroes!

Who is the youngest protagonist in your main cast, or who's your youngest MC if you have multiple WIPs? Does their youth serve as more of a benefit or hindrance to accomplishing their goals?

My answer below, as usual!

Empress Kiu'nora, the Peacekeeper, took the throne at the end of a brutal civil war 500 years ago. She lived in a turbulent time of fragile peace. With magic she prolonged her life as long as she could to keep the Empire stable. She died at the age of 204.

Serara has long curly hair, dark reddish brown in color. It's thick, fluffy, unruly when the weather is humid, but she loves it.

Zaki's hair is brown and straight, currently short in the back. He prefers it long, but isn't overly attached to any style.

Not in the traditional sense. When someone die, their soul is taken to Graya's (the death god) domain, Limbo, to be cleansed of sin and memories and then reincarnated. Depending on the "damage" to the soul, the cleansing process can take a long time.

Most of my characters are human, or mostly human. The only one of the core group who isn't, is Thistle. They're an enby fairy who comes to the group's aid and acts like a guide. They have a kind but mischievous nature and is skilled with enhancement magic.

Serara's not a good swimmer even though she's lived next to a river her entire life. She prefers bathing in tubs. Hot baths = 💜

Zaki's an excellent swimmer. Given the opportunity, he'll swim as part of his daily training. He also enjoys relaxing baths.

#Ame_NephilimWIP
Greetings, #NovemberWorldbuilders! Let's talk about your MC today. What is their relationship with water like? Do they know how to swim? Have they ever caught a fish? Or is it just something that gets in the way during their long journey? Maybe they've never *seen* a body of water so big

Silver River runs through the Empire's largest forest, home to a plethora of animals, monsters and other creatures. Among them are sun cats, small cats with crystalline fur that refracts light. Most are yellow, but darker colors is not unusual.

The only things I have in mind is Xhavann who uses more old fashioned words/speech, like "thou" and "ardent". It's a bit trickier than I thought.

Another is Zaki who shortens his sentences, like instead of saying "I can't see" he'll say "Can't see" or simply "Can't".
Hey #WritingCommunity, do your OCs have a distinct way of speaking? Do they use particular words or phrases? Are they formal? Casual? Polite? Rude? What's their voice?

Silver River is one of the largest rivers in the Empire and runs through three countries, but it's not fit for shipping goods long distances as it winds too much. Sometimes it's called Snake River because of this.

Welcome to our third week, #NovemberWorldbuilders! This time we're talking about important RIVERS or LAKES in our world! But, tbh, any sufficiently important body of water will do. Also, don't feel obliged to answer; sometimes I cover niche topics that aren't for everyone!

Serara is generally morally good. Law-abiding, wit just the right amount of a rebellious streak. But as a doctor, she refuses to kill.

Zaki is morally grey. He has no problem breaking rules. Killing is literary his job. But he won't kill kids or animals.

#Ame_NephilimWIP
Greetings, #NovemberWorldbuilders. Tell me about the ethics of your MC or any character who is important in your world's lore. Are they morally good? Morally grey? Do they have a belief contrary to what others around them believe in? Are there any acts they refuse to do?

Serara does the bare minimum; walks to the market, gardening, chores. She has no interest in training. She's healthy, that's enough.

Zaki trains every day, without fail. He's trained since he was a child to be in peak physical condition, breaking his body to build it up stronger.
