I wonder what the percentage of computer havers who use AmigaOS 4 as their daily driver is
I hope it's not 0%

AmigaOS had the right idea with their whole datatype thing -- add a JPEG library to your system and suddenly every image-using program understands JPEG, for example. That shit rules.

TLDR: AmigaOS should've won instead of Windows. It handled all of this much better.

I did it! I've managed to create a raylib template that builds natively on AmigaOS 4, and on all other major platforms. No installing of dependencies or other hackery. Just a cmake configure and build.

Commodore is just a licensed brand now. I think Cloanto (or what used to be Cloanto) owns the Amiga brand. They've been repackaging WinUAE as Amiga Forever for 27 years. It's a nice click-to-run product. Other bits are owned by a few folks carrying on AmigaOS 3.x (m68k) and 4.x (ppc).

Oh gosh, and anybody at the time only had a small section of knowledge about it. My knowledge was largely MSDOS based... so there is a large amount of Amstrad, PC98 and AmigaOS stuff I was completely oblivious towards

Even then, there was a large amount of stuff I knew nothing about

I ended up gaming on mine last night! I'm running ApolloOS 9.4, which is AROS based rather than the original AmigaOS line. Seems to work a treat to be honest.

Are Megadrive controllers safe on the Amiga?

Hah, reminds me of uni where I'd go to the computer room, download a bunch of new AmigaOS utilities from Aminet on a PC, split them on to floppy disks and take them back to my room.

I think I had to use a really low density disk format as it was the only one the two machines could both read/write.
