-Duhesme mentions the "affaire de Ste Euphémie en Calabre". This is of course Maida, which Oman used re. British line defeating French column ! FWIW, Duhesme doesn't mention columns, just that the British received the French charge w close-range musketry & arty (French didn't engage in firefight).

I’d say it’s kinda angular arty rock , if pushed . What we can agree on - they were brilliant .
A lot of US acts had the punk sensibility , as did some UK pub rockers , only seen as kinda “punky“ in retrospect . They were doing it before an actual genre/movement had coalesced .
