M 11, the Wild Ducks, taken while i waited for it to get dark enough to try a Huge Mosaic of the Pipe nebula (which failed).

Under some conditions, visually in a modest sized telescope, M 11 looks like a V of waterfowl (which is where the "Wild Ducks" came from).

F'ing weather! Clouds and rain every night so I cannot #astroimage during and our club archery field is flooded so I cannot shoot during the day.

I am going to have to find a pastime that doesn't start with 'a'.

Here's an astroimage of a young region (in astronomical terms) in the constellation Cepheus. It's about 2900 light-years away and contains stars forming from collapsing parts of the nebula. It also contains a star with one of the highest surface temperatures known. @bot.astronomy.blue signup

Is it possible the stories of the Seven Sisters and Orion are so old our ancestors were telling these stories to each other around campfires in Africa, 100,000 years ago? Could this be the oldest story in the world?

MSAS welcomed Graham Winstanley, who made the trip up th A1 to present this week's meeting.  Graham described his astroimage journey. Starting with a Box Brownie in the 1960s he showed several of his early film cameras and prints before moving onto the '90s and the digital age of amateur images.
