🚨 The BBC’s Road to Appeasement

As the BBC comes under growing criticism for its coverage of Reform, we republish @adambienkov.bsky.social and @baghdaddi.bsky.social’s 2024 investigation into how the corporation's leadership became cowed by the right

The BBCs output, as a news organisation, has been pro-Israel, pro-Farrage and anti-trans.

That is a bias issue.

Not the one being raised here.

It’s very prominent in the right wing press and the certain fascist adjacent websites though…

For Steve Rosenberg things are still on a downward spiral in Russia....

In today’s Russian papers: “Budget revenues still falling, trade with China declining" & ”petrol supply problems in the regions.” Plus an interesting editorial: “In a situation where almost everything is prohibited, a little something at least should be permitted” #ReadingRussia

Also there are literally two BBCs, in a sense. The news side is institutionally captured by the right, the rest is run by the usual people who make things and so skews broadly left. I think both sides (UGH) fall into the trap of attacking the bit they disagree with as if it's the whole thing.

www.bylinesupplement.com/p/the-bbcs-r... The capture of the #BBC by the malevolent right wing, its cowardice and its failure to stand up for what’s right has been one of the biggest drivers of the destruction of the UK.

Bah. I'm so conflicted. Whilst yes, I believe the BBCs coverage of many topics has been atrocious, it looks to me like this has been engineered by the right for not being right wing enough.

So the BBCs director general and head of news have fallen on their swords , not for years of fawning to the Tories and Reform and constantly throwing right wing shade on any story, but for not being right wing enough for their paymasters.

A fmr chair of Fulham Tories & Tory candidate was chair of the BBC for the last 5 yrs. Several Tory appointees are on the BBC board (incl the extreme right wing GB News co-founder Robbie Gibb).

And there's John McAndrew who was director of GB News & is now BBCs director of News Programmes

The CURRENT sitting MP for Clacton earns £511,000 as a presenter for GB News and took £281,000 as a brand ambassador for Direct Bullion.

So maybe sit this one out, you rancid herring.

Liar Johnson knew full well what he was doing when he packed the BBCs management with right wing extremists. The question is why hasn’t Lisa Nandy taken any action to redress it.

This isn't the BBCs first time and, compared to their reporting of Orgreave, is a model of accuracy.

BBC in Scotland admits misleading Scots again by copying & pasting a Tory press release that is anti Scottish Government.

The BBC response isn't good enough. An investigation into he BBCs Editorial practices in Scotland needs to happen. Even the new headline still smears the Scottish Government🙄

90 mins in, and as far as I can tell, Justin Webb hasn't mentioned Mamdani once on #r4today.

This is the man who trades on his 'expert' knowledge of the US political scene, and even has the gall to front the BBCs "Americast" podcast series.
