Teachers everywhere are doing what they can to help. Sending extra food home in backpacks, creating food drives, and buying as many classroom
snacks as our paychecks allow. No child should be hungry. Period

With food insecurity hitting many, I would like to create food backpacks for students to take home over Thanksgiving break.

One of my favorite conference tropes is “we put a backpack on a [animal that does not wear backpacks]”. Today’s animal is a lobster lol.

My regular afternoon routine:
Walks to the bus stop alone to meet the girls
Walks back from the bus stop alone but now carrying two backpacks because the girls ran home leaving me behind

The conversation stopped and everyone kinda looked at him and he solemnly told the city that they'd identified these folks because they wore "black clothes" and some "had unidentified patches" on their backpacks.
The only patch I could recall seeing was an LGBT flag.

“Of course, Russia is not targeting kindergartens…” — repeats Putin’s special envoy.
Meanwhile, we see the truth — shattered classrooms, broken hospital windows, tiny backpacks scattered among the debris. These aren’t “accidents.” They’re patterns, wrapped in phrases about “tragedies.”👇

As a #ColdWarKid in Europe in the 70s, I took pride in a maple leaf flag being sewn into my jean jacket while giving flag-jacking Yank hippies a side-eye for misappropriating them on their backpacks.

Love their wideness, chunky backpacks, shields, feels more power armor scale (like the Venus Wars background heavy infantry) with the Mobile Armor as shootemup tanks and planes.

@brittlestar.com is mentioned in this article. I remember when Canadians used to sew Canadian flags on their backpacks so they wouldn't be mistaken as Americans. Now, Americans don't even want to be mistaken as Americans.

We're not feeding the children we have. Why does the government want more. If schools are sending home backpacks full of food and churches are subsidizing our country with food pastries, why does the government want more children? Certainly not to educate them

Following up on this, you can volunteer or donate to the kids' backpack program, too. They partner with local orgs to give backpacks of food to kids for the weekend so that they have food at home.
Shame on us as a rich country that these programs even exist, too. But do help where and as you can.

Was just talking to a repairman about how expensive everything is and I mentioned cost of candy this year for Halloween was outrageous and I wont be passing it out. He said: pass out cup of noodles, pudding cups maybe.
Brilliant. People are hungry and while not candy, its food.

I’m at a high school where phones are not allowed out of students’ backpacks…this is reasonable.
But the phones also must be used as part of the checkout/checkin process for using the bathrooms.
Oh the gray areas I am currently observing. It has turned into a game of cat and mouse.

Given how many of my cats over the years refused to wear collars,
getting all kinds of animals to wear backpacks For Science is amazing,
especially ones that are round bois that don't have limbs in the right places.
